Nice to know it's not just me. After watching a review of the master series by The Watcher on Youtube, it would appear even his review copy has much the same issue, though he doesn't mention it.

I've started the return process, shouldn't be a problem.

I've already bought a suitable replacement hehe

‘This spring I will be mostly wearing’….

Apologies for the Fast Show reference but this Pagani Design is top of the list for me at the moment.

No complaints particularly for the £36 or whatever it was I paid from AliExpress.

Seiko smooth sweep quartz movement (VK31?)
Sapphire
Lovely bracelet
38mm
Screw down crown and caseback (not that I would trust the 100m WR rating)
Nicely finished mix of brushed and polished finishes on the case
Milled lower clasp, pressed engraved upper
Sintered finish (very nicely done)

And of course the ‘on-trend’ Tiffany Blue dial. As anyone who seen my photos can confirm, fashion is enormously important to me laugh
I've got one of those and am very pleased with it. Real bargain.
Me too smile One of the best bargains I've picked up.
Snagged one for £25, rude not to.

Decent and understated.

The Pagani automatic Patek copy I had was very nicely made, amazing really for £50.

In fact most of the stuff I've looked for on Ali Express has been impressive.

My quota is currently full (got a few parts that I still need to assemble) but I'd be tempted.

That looks like one of the later batches with the brushed bracelet. The earlier ones had a mixed brushed/polished bracelet. The lume dots are no where near that bad on the earlier ones.

Yes I've noticed that the V2 has several changes over the V1 such as solid case back, higher water resistance, upgraded bracelet and a "that'll do" attitude to the lume hehe

It's a shame as an automatic champagne dialed watch was just what I was after. I have managed to find a Tissot Visodate that looks similar, albeit for several hundred more.

In news other than my lume woes, I did purchase the Timex Expedition North I've had my eye on for a while. Titanium, Miyota auto, sapphire, 200m WR, decent enough spec. Due to a mildly frustrating and amusing delivery issue, the price went from £310 to £0, can't beat that!

Wha….what, you got it for free? Top work, and do tell how!

I had something similar with my Glycine Combat Sub, but ended up making donations to charadee instead (but I don’t like to talk about it)

Well the watch turned up at my house even though it wasn't marked as dispatched. That being the case I wasn't sent a code to give to the delivery guy. He said he'd come back but I suggested nothing would be different so I'd contact customer support. I tried my best to explain but they insisted it was stuck in the warehouse despite me telling them I'd literally seen it. Either way at some point they'd marked it as dispatched and surprisingly the next day two turned up that the Mrs took in whilst I was at work. Being honest (to a fault sometimes) I informed them accurately of the case, and said I was sending one back and keeping the other. They said they understood, but on receiving the return they refunded me! Short of begging them to take the money back, I tried it all, but even I have limits how far I'll go when faced with some fortuitous luck from a well known commerce giant who probably won't even notice.

Seems like you might have done even better with a Glycine, it's a lovely watch though I won't push you for the story. Donation sounds noble though. I on the other hand spent the money on a decent meal out for the family, and some treats for the kids. Everyone seems more accepting of my watch obsession now.

Sale alert! And it's only double thread budget. But given that I think it's being advertised for roughly half of what it's worth. I thought I'd tip you vultures off...
Do not click if you'd rather have £400 than a vintage Omega.

https://www.gumtree.com/p/mens-watches/1972-omega-...

Caveats:
The picture isn't good enough for me to tell if the dial is original, but what I can see looks OK. It appears to have the starburst sheen, most of the redials are matte.
Seems too good to be true. Caveat Emptor.
The only reasons I'm not jumping in is that I've just spent £700 odd on a vintage quartz Omega, and because I already have a Dynamic.

That Omega is quite a find, Automatic too. For that price, I'd be a bit more comfortable jumping in, if it's a redial it's been done well.

I'm like it for sure, sounds silly but it's the mountain logo at 12 that got me, reminds me of the times I've been trekking in forests and up mountains. Being titanium though it's very light and feels a bit odd on wrist at first. Timex sell it on their website for £310, but I'd strongly recommend you sign up to their news letter as you'll get an immediate email with a 20% discount on any of their products. If you already have and used it, then hold off and they regularly send out discounts.

https://timex.co.uk/products/expedition-north-tita...

There are actually two slightly different models, this grey dialled one which comes with a green nylon two piece strap, and a black dialled one which comes with black leather. Both straps are recycled material, a noble effort but neither are very nice at all. I've seen both, the black is slightly nicer I think but it's currently out of stock

Also, my Spinnaker Hull Diver turned up today, very pleased. £189 down from the listed price of £420, not that I think anyone pays that, they seem to rotate big discounts though their models each week or two.

I bought a Cestrian field series watch recently, well made, good looking and I thought it a great deal at around £140.

On the strength of this, I then ordered one of their master series models for around the same price.

Looked fantastic in the press images, but when I opened it and saw the dial I was greeted with this.

The lume dots on the indices look awful. I think the watch could do without them anyway, but at least they looked neat. But they are actually all over the place, showing some pretty poor QC.

I'm not really one for returning things, but I have to say I'm considering it. At sub £200 maybe I'm being too critical? The dial looks great otherwise, but the £20-£50 Ali Express models show far greater attention to detail which seems nuts.

Thoughts?

I need to stop coming on this forum, just purchased the black dialed Field with steel strap... to be fair I had been after something to wear everyday and thought a Hamilton was a bit flash to wear everyday, so this should do nicely by the looks of it. Going to flog some other stuff to pay for it (probably).

Their field model is genuinely a really nicely made and finished watch, I'm very pleased with it.

I've tried starting a return, also emailed them, and despite getting a response, they've still not accepted the return and given me a label yet.

Arrived from eBay this morning. £172

I’ve not heard of those before. Really interesting! I’ve just spent a while looking on their website.
As it happens as I read this I was wearing my Model 2. I also have a Model 1. Great watches.

It really is nice (especially for even less money wink ), and getting some daily wear now smile
Over £32k for a real one? Crazy!

In other news, went back to Zuludiver (as I had a discount running out) and bought the "perfect match" strap for my Luminox to replace the red one:

This one is a lot thicker/stiffer than the red one I put on it to see if I liked a rubber strap... any tips for breaking them in, or is it just wear it and wait?

Sorry to hear about the return, hopefully they'll sort it. My Field Series was delivered Saturday, only ordered it at 3pm Friday! Had it on all weekend and absolutely love it, had a few people ask me about it as well. For the money, genuinely impressed.

Still enjoying this 39mm Cronos, now back on the bracelet. Other than the clasp (now a third party glidelock style thing, which isn’t great) the quality is easily on a par with my San Martins. A £100 bargain.
