I would be, it's a nice looking watch. Bit costly, but I have seen reviews that say they are nicely made.

as an aside

is there a thread recommendation for straps - i quite like the straps that have the circles cut out (are they called rally straps?)

thanks!
The ones you describe are rally straps, there are variations but they'll all have holes of some sort.

As for finding them, there are decent affordable brands available on Amazon or Ebay, such as Barton, Archer & Zuludiver. If you're nuts you can find sites/brands selling straps for several hundreds of £££. But for real choice and variety (and quality) at good prices it's hard to beat using AliExpress, just read the reviews.

AliExpress is great for straps. It's where the UK/EU/Amazon sellers get theirs from in the first place and then sell for ten times the price.

Spend big money, and I mean really big money, like say a fiver, and the quality is amazing.

I love AliExpress, as I shall demonstrate by showcasing my £80 Sugess mechanical next to my £20 Benyar automatic, rolling in a £15 silent winder, all behind my £5 pull back Initial D Toyota Sprinter Trueno with working lights and sound.

Did I mention free shipping? hehe

Get shopping guys! hehe

The AE86 is a 1:32, you can get a much nicer one in 1:24 for about £15.

The winder is decent enough, nearly silent, draws very little power. It's very obvious a plastic case though, but looks OK within the room and doesn't seem dirt cheap.

Speaking of Straps, I bought this AliExpress strap for my Bradner.

Cost about £4, is of great quality and suits it well. So much so I bought another for my Geckota.

The £7.22 Megir, is one year old today.

The dilemma I face, the chrome is starting to lift, strap getting a bit ropey, no doubt the battery will need replacing soon.

Do I pull the trigger on a new chronometer or invest in the daily beater?

Not a decision for others to make, if you like the watch, the cost of keeping it in use is insignificant.

Apropos of nothing, sporting this today, I had forgotten how nice it was for the money.

Watch:

Strap:

As is often the case with Spinnaker it's worth checking Amazon for deals. Black/grey Bradner currently available for £140, which really is a bargain for a watch as nicely made as it is.

Oof. That’s a lot of watch for the money. Guarantee too, which is always the issue with buying stuff out of China.

[bonkers]The cost of replacing the whole watch for an identical one is probably less than paying someone to replace the battery.[/bonkers]

Really fancy a Omega Swatch Moonswatch, but they are a fraction over budget for this thread. Was hoping ebay would bring them under but people paying over the odds, presumably because they are only available to buy instore. Appreciate the controversy over the watch, I just like the way they look and as my 8 year old is space, the planet on the back is a nice thing. Think I need to keep an eye on ebay for one within thread budget.

I know it's crazy, but sometimes you just have to keep the watch running.

It’s your money; if you fancy it, go for it.

I would suggest that if you’re looking for a space-related watch, and you can go a bit over thread budget, then the Bulova Lunar Pilot comes into view and that’s a proper watch, not a plastic fragile toy:

I've had hands on both the MoonSwatch and the Bulova Lunar Pilot, and I very much agree with Barchettaman, the Lunar Pilot is by far the better watch.
