Happened to be in Central London yesterday so I thought I’d pop in to the Oxford Street Swatch store. They had a cabinet with them on display, but no stock of any of them.
Which begs the question: why is Swatch taking out full-page MoonSwatch adverts in the national press (e.g., The Times)?Salted_Peanut said:

I mean they cannot be that far off I wouldn’t have thought. I doubt Swatch grow their own bio-ceramic cases in Switzerland, and the movement parts are probably not made far from the same factories producing the fakes - maybe just assembled slightly further away.
Also, people who want to not like the watch are the ones saying it feels cheap. It feels light, but I think it feels absolutely on its price point. It’s light sure, but the actual detail and build quality is really good. Way better than I was expecting.

A friend of a friend was in Vegas last week - they only had one in stock (which he purchased).
Apparently they said they were the biggest Swatch dealership in the US in terms of units shifted so if they are only getting one at a time that doesn’t bode well!
Bought mine in Ney York New York (the Swatch store in Vegas where you can purchase Omega X Swatch) they had just taken stock when we arrived, they had around 50 units of each watch of Mars, Jupiter and Mercury delivered. This was the last week of April. Apparently they said they were the biggest Swatch dealership in the US in terms of units shifted so if they are only getting one at a time that doesn’t bode well!

Just looked at my posts from over 2 months ago, and I made the claim that these would be continually sold out for over 3 months, and then likely be quietly discontinued, meaning that ordinary punters like me simply wouldn’t be able to buy one.
I stand by that claim, unfortunately.
They will milk it for all it's worth surely, why wouldn't they?I stand by that claim, unfortunately.
However, they made a big mistake not having the stock produced prior to launch.
The hype is gone, people who were going to buy one or more are not going to bother and to top it off, fakes have hit the market.
They will be making them as fast as they can and you will be able to wander into Swatch in a few months time and get one, when they are no longer the latest thing, but they have definitely missed out on millions of sales.

I'm not sure about how long they will keep them in production. I read in a few different places that even with 'unlimited' collaborations or special editions, Swatch usually discontinue them after 3-6 months. However, they made a big mistake not having the stock produced prior to launch.

Whilst the concept was great, I think this has actually turned out to be a bit of an embarrassing debacle for them. They could go two ways with it. They could quietly discontinue them and just let it go, or they could keep them in production for longer in the hope of being able to make as many customers happy as possible.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what they do, but I suspect they will discontinue within the next 3 months, and the watches will continue to be sold out during that time.
The buzz has gone for many people and I can understand why. I still want one as I think it would be a fun thing to own, but only if I can stroll into a shop and buy one without any drama.
Those look pretty good - and at the appropriate price point for a plastic watch. I'm in for a couple as we speak, thanks for posting!
(eta.. I assume, in time-honoured knockoff fashion, that the chrono function doesn't work - but that's ok because no-one actually uses the chrono function after the first day of ownership)?
