It feels like they are making for the resellers market.

They're already on eBay for 2 or 3 grand...
Not sure how these guys will secure supply, or maybe thats not the point.

People that work there would be obvious first point, easy money. I can't believe the hype really, but this something not of my generation, this is the generation that loves stuff like this. The thing is Omega are doing very well off the back of this so is working.

A Swiss news outlet has a live feed about the launch in Zürich.

https://www.20min.ch/story/ich-bin-fuer-die-moonsw...

It's in german, but in case somebody wants to see pictures of a couple of guys (and a few girls) standing in line for a Mission to the Moon with a golden second hand....

It really does seem a weak effort, they could have done so much with the design and ended up with that.

Imagine having to explain all that to someone you meet when they comment on your watch. I suspect the people buying these will take great pleasure in telling all and sundry how they're second hand was made by blind monks during a full moon and only sold to those who sacrificed a deer at the altar of Omega.

Think the more cynical take is that people don’t even care about those details - it’s the fact it was really hard to get hold of and don’t you know there’s only a handful of shops you can get these from (insert your story how you got one either stalked the Covent Garden shop or payed a scalper loads lf money cause time is money.

As someone who owns a "decent" Swatch before this collab, I'm glad I didn't fall for the marketing because they are genuinely badly made watches.

Appears that people are buying them on ebay at around £1000.

I saw people sitting on camping chairs since this morning in London queueing for the watch. All of them looked like the reseller types.

Interested to know what a reseller looks like?

Predominantly male. A lot of them were wearing Nike Jordans / Dunks (I own a number of pairs myself so not criticising). Lots of branded clothing and puffer jackets.

The people who were sitting on their camping chairs since 9am all shared the same ethnicity.

I have nothing against resellers, if you can make that sort of money do it. Issue is the company could do better to allow more people the potential to buy them, I mean how many people can take a full day off work to buy a watch?

Will be interesting what they sell for on eBay. Swatch definitely getting a lot of publicity.

Exactly this. The entire setup just guarantees that the only people who benefit are those who for some reason can afford to sit outside a shop all day.

Oh and those rich/stupid enough to pay the laughable resale values.

Swatch do seem determined to annoy genuine buyers in the interest of queues and publicity. How many people can take a day off work to stand in a queue with only a small chance of success when the professional scalper brigade who flip for a living will have a crew to dominate the queues and pick up all available stock. I shouldn't care but it does annoy the hell out of me.
