I've now received a replacement Mercury from Swatch. I can't complain about their service really; it was a little slow but ultimately they replaced my damaged watch without an interrogation process!

To my eternal surprise, my 9 year old son persuaded me to go into the Swatch store in Basel last Thursday- I'd already given up trying to get hold of a mission to the moon. Lo and behold, they had several of them in stock, so now I have a cheap fun watch on my wrist.

I still think it's ridiculous that it's wholly dependent on luck and timing...

Was in London this week and Oxford St had Sun, Mars and Uranus.

Covent Garden had Sun and Earth.

Still after a Mercury, Moon or Neptune, but I think I’ve given up now. Not playing the game anymore frown

Picked up a Sun yesterday at Oxford St.

It’s a bit too yellow to match the new car but it’ll do

I picked one up on a whim when I was travelling. Availability in Covent Garden (a short walk from work) is just as randomised as it is in Malaysia.

Gratuitous old-next-to-new-shot.

The strap it comes with is impossibly vulgar so that had to go, otherwise I quite like it as a bit of fun.

Are they really as un-waterproof as the online reviews say? I was hoping to be able to keep it on for general dicking about in the pool with kids in the summer.

Swam and showered with mine on. Zero issues. They’re waterproof. Someone somewhere made some assumption that they’re not, based on something someone said on the internet.

No worries, just having a little joke, although also surprised these are still a 'thing'. To be fair, I was also interested at the beginning, right up to the point I had one in my hands last Summer. Once I discovered they are made of putty I lost interest, as it seems some others have. By any objective measure they are worth no more than £75.00, so the fact that people are clambering over each other at four times that to get one confirms your point that it is indeed a marketing triumph.
If you applied that mentality to everything you would probably end up buying nothing.

We all know that a pair of trainers aren’t ‘worth’ more than £10. They are just a cheap bit of foam and polyester material, badly glued together in a factory in Vietnam, but if you need new trainers, then you’ll hand over the £50-100 for them.

Is the classic ladies Burberry trenchcoat ‘worth’ £1900? Of course it isn’t, but that isn’t going to stop my wife purchasing one in the near future.

Is an ordinary cotton T Shirt by Dolce & Gabbana ‘worth‘ £700? No, but they sell loads of them.

The RRP of items is rarely much to do with the construction quality and materials of said item.

A couple of DHGate specials arrived today - £25 each.

No complaints with Earth, but disappointed with Saturn. Left and right subdials should be brown, not grey. Right subdial should go to 10, not 12. Bottom subdial should have numbers 20, 40, 60.

Annoyingly, I bought from this seller because someone on Reddit also bought from them, and their Saturn didn't have these mistakes. I guess it's a lucky dip.

I've got Moon, Mercury and Neptune coming from another seller (no idea when they'll arrive).

Strange one for me the above post. I wouldn’t consider getting a replica of a quality watch, but i think i will get these copies.

At the end of the day Swatch are being difficult in not letting me buy from them as nowhere near a shop that is allowed to sell them despite a Swatch shop being about 5 miles away, and they’re just cheap watches with quartz movements so how different can a copy be!

Just bought another one yesterday @ Swatch Store Basel. Mercury this time. Now I have Moon, Mercury and Jupiter but the only one I'm wearing atm is the £20 Neptune from DH gate.

Once I get my hands on a real one, I'll buy it! The 1/10th sec hand that acts as a 12 hour hand drives me mad.....
I got the moon as a christmas present, but the plastic case (sorry: bioceramic) needs to be a colour and not mimic stainless steel, imho. I always have preferred the Mercury over the Moon. I guess the Moon will be kept in it's package as a collectors piece, whereas the Mercury will get wrist time.

Without the whole drama about the bleeding case back and therefore the scarcity, the Neptune is the best looking MoonSwatch, imho.
It is a really good looking, fun watch that I really dig!!
The Jupiter will be a summer watch I will be wearing with my Roger Moore style safari suits biggrin

I agree re the Neptune, I'm pretty certain that would have been my choice had it been in stock.

I'm already looking at changing the strap on mine from the one it comes with, really not a fan of the strap and i'll probably buy a rubber strap instead.

Yes, standard straps are pretty rubbish. A nato/mn/etc. strap is a must, imho.

I was in Cape Town last week and they had a few available in the store in the V&A waterfront mall but not in black or grey or blue. I tried one of the others (one of the brown ones, Saturn maybe?) but I was really disappointed with how it looked and felt, so it wasn't for me.

The wife is currently working in Glasgow a few minutes away from the Swatch store. I stupidly thought the hype would have died down by now so I suggested she pop in and see what they had. 8:50 AM this morning and the queue was about 40 deep! Apparently they had a Mercury delivery and the majority of the queue was waiting for that, I managed to get a Moon. Utter Madness

How are people getting the heads up that they've had these deliveries? Whenever I've asked in any of the stores (I've tried 8 different stores) I'm always told they don't know what they're getting or when.

Just put an other strap on my newly purchased Mercury (seen here with the unworn Moon still in the box).
The Mercury is the much nicer design, imho. The darker case looks much better works great with the two tone dial.
I got the Moon as a christmas gift and wouldn't have bought it for myself tbh. It will life in the box in my small(ish) collection of watches.

These are the three MoonSwatches that get worn (Neptune is a £20 Ali special until I get hold of a real one).

For reference, here is the only real Omega Chronograph in my current collection (a 90's Dynamic, basically a Speedmaster reduced with different dial) together with a Swatch Black Friday. This is the first Swatch Chronograph from 1989.

The yellow and gold nato in your photo; does it have bronze metal wear on it or is it just the photo?
I bought one for my Tudor. But the buckle annoys me a bit as it’s brushed steel and not bronze.
