Right so I’m an idiot.

The battery is fake, I don’t know where the real one site but definitely looks like you can’t change it. Yes it is amazing they have done that when one is needed anyway!

The watch hasn’t stopped however. The “seconds” hand is part of a chronograph function and is started and stopped by the top button and reset by the bottom button.

Just bear in mind if you do buy, when the battery runs out thats all she wrote, but by then we will all be bored of these shirley?

My mercury arrived yesterday and on balance I’m quite pleased with it. The strap is garbage and it’s just a plastic Swatch so should cost £50 tops but ultimately it’s a classic design and having changed the strap I will actually wear it.

Is it a gateway to a real Speedmaster? Maybe as I really like the size and aesthetic and had previously not considered a Speedmaster so job done Omega. I just have to weigh that against how much Swatch/Omega pissed me off to actually get hold of this thing.

Ineterestingly (or not) I was picking up some hired tools last night and the bloke asked about my moonswatch. He said he was going to get an Omega but then saw these so was getting a Tudor instead.....

You just need to pop the back off to change the battery. Every fake I’ve seen has the fake battery cover. No fake battery on mine though. Just an empty space.

Typical, I'm in London for the first time in ages on Tuesday and was hoping to get hold of a Saturn or Pluto.

I've never played this game before so I'm a bit naive to it all, can I just turn up and have a look at the watch and buy it, or will there still be an element of queuing? Also, looks like there are a couple of stores in London so which would be my best bet to get hold of one?

Well, after mentioning it a few times in front of the good lady, missing out every single time I was in London with work, and then being massively frustrated that when we passed through Bangkok airport last November that they only had the gaudy ones, she has just presented me with my 49th birthday present…

“WTF??? HTF???” Says I…

“I have my ways” says she…

…and yes, I am marrying her in July!

The irony of that is people will say he bought a Tudor because he can't afford a Rolex.

Haha but no she didn’t, let’s just say she has a very senior role in finance and there’s no way she’d do that (only yesterday she was causing a hold up in Tescos because a small barcode discount hadn’t been applied on a BBQ pack!). And definitely not my money!

The papers are stamped Swatch store in Geneva, I’m thinking she may have tapped up one of my mates passing through recently on a ski trip?

Anyway I absolutely love the watch. I’m an Omega guy…my daily is usually a Seamaster 300M or Dynamic so this makes a fab change when I want an attractive looking watch that’s perhaps a bit more suited when doing things such as running or cycling, and is a great jeans/t shirt watch when something flashier looks a bit “much”. It’s rare and cool, and as they say “if you know, you know”.

It’s stunningly light, the buttons and crown have a lovely feel, the biocermamic feels as hard as nails, and despite what some people are saying I actually really love the factory strap with the “Speedmaster” wording. Being such a neutral colour, it would also look fab on a black NATO or orange rubber strap.

And the way that the cardboard part of the box opens and spins to reveal the inner box, really is extremely clever indeed.

Love it!! (And her!!)

There wasn't a queue in Covent Garden, the store was very quiet.
I just asked which if any models they had in stock and they gave me the options.
I declined as I am waiting for a Moon but was tempted by Jupiter.

I asked about deliveries and strategy for trying to get a Moon, they couldn't help as their deliveries are random.

I've been told the best stores to get them are Oxford Street, Covent Garden or Battersea.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice.

No stock at Battersea full stop.
Called into Covent Garden, a guy was trying on Earth. They also had Venus, Mars & Sun.
Phoned Oxford Street, they also had Venus, Mars & Sun.

I've got a fake Saturn on the way from DH Gate. Will try again for a genuine one next time I'm in town.

Well these three turned up today from DHGate;

With the correct packaging and even what looks like official documents and warranty cards your be hard pushed to know they're £20 not £200. The only thing I can see is the adjustment dial doesn't have the Swatch / Omega logo on it.

Other than that, for £20 I can't complain whatever it's provenance is!

PS: the advert didn't have any logos when I bought them as some have asked about.

Really? The colours all look wrong and the fact the text on the back is printed rather than embossed are a big giveaway. I also tend to feel that the bioceramic doesn't look like plastic in the way plastic does. It has more of a satin sheen which plastic struggles to replicate.

Plus the straps are completely the wrong colour!

Went past the swatch shop in Glasgow when I was down last week. Sods law the only ones I like were out of stock. Was chatting to the guys in the shop about it all and they're still getting 200-250 people every morning in trying to get the popular ones.

Can't bring myself to pay over the odds for one from a reseller. I've bought a few DHGate watches before and always surprised with how well made they are, but not too fussed about buying a fake for a £200 watch.

Hate that it's so difficult to buy a swatch, just bloody release them online hehe

Can't find the actual link to the "shop" I used on DH gate - but if you search for "moonswatch" you'll get plenty of options.

In fairness, there's quite a lot different between one of those and the original. The whole thing looks a lot "coarser" from those pictures.

But...for £20 you can't complain, I might get one for my lad!
