Absolutely awful E600. Hope your wife and you are ok and the police do something.

Maybe instead of walking home from a bar alone it would be wise to get a cab if you want to be super cautious but otherwise I think you’re panicking for no reason.

OP - sorry to hear this news, it’s disgusting someone would come to your house to do that.
Panicking? Did you ever see this https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/18928311.greenw...

Latest update, we have been informed there will be no site visit to collect evidence, nor should we drop it in to the police station as the crime falls below the threshold for further action. We explained we also had good quality cctv and still images of the thief.

The police suggested we send them in via e mail. I explained their systems do not allow for attachments.

The policeman said he would e mail us so we could reply with attachments. Still waiting for e mail.

Sounds like the usual nonsense when dealing with anything public sector related.

You could lazily blame the generic public sector, or you could blame the government for cutting policing numbers (the party of law and order AND good financial governance /politics).

E mail came through, starts with Noreply…… I wonder if they do it so you give up. Let’s see what £85k’s worth of Police and Crime Commissioner can do.

Put a complaint in. It should be at the least considered for their digital image database.

How it falls below their threshold? What's the criteria for their threshold. Has this been explained?

The only threshold I have seen is a 5 day response time KPI, not met. When questioned, we are extremely busy at present.

Each year I pay more and more tax, even when now retired on fixed income. Where does it go.

Sorry for thread drift, it’s the frustration creeping out.

Its a frustrating time.

I got burgled and we must have had 5k of stuff nicked....not one poxy social media circular, nothing.

Boils my piss when I see appeals for some of the most stupid stuff from thefts from the very same police force.

What I find frustrating is the endless social media posts of various forces posting their success against errant motorists for not having an MOT, noisy exhaust, no tax. Whilst I understand these things need action where are the posts highlighting success against higher hanging fruit.

I'm beginning to wonder if its worth owning a Rolex any longer *(I bought my GMT2 in 2002 for £2300), it rarely comes out now and I certainly won't wear it or my Speedmaster moonwatch when I have to go into London for work meetings. Daily now seems to be my £150 15yr old Tissot on a NATO strap.
This thread reminded me to check my house insurance (watches are listed on that) the GMT2 is 5K and the Omega 1.5K, may need to change those frown)
Im the same with the Speedy, I wouldn't be wearing into the city if I went in like I used to.
It's kind of mad that after 10 years I am increasingly conscious of wearing my more expensive watches, particularly in the summer as it's hot enough here that I never wear long sleeves. In the winter I don't think about it. I used to sometimes think about it in clubs but always wore them, even in Barcelona.

Was part of my justification for buying the Mido.

I would also say that I think my concerns are basically irrational.
I see people in the city, Canary Wharf or on the tube in those areas almost daily wearing £10k+ watches

I have to be honest and say that I've never understood the desire to wear an expensive watch. Any watch, or phone, will do the job - so what is the point of wearing an expensive watch?

Do you know the serial number of the watch?
You used to be able to register a watch stolen with Rolex and if it ever turns up on the dealer network of for repair it will be flagged.

Serial number given to police and Rolex AD who info Rolex for the register. As the watch is not covered by insurance, despite having it, and mine, identified on our household policy it will be returned if it ever shows up in the Rolex network.

Surely either ripe for a bait-setup (you weren't the first and won't be the last) or otherwise a post in the same place it was advertised to see if you can find others - club together, the value then becomes higher and worth the police's time?

op dont quote me but as i understand rolex no longer run/support the stolen register, i believe paul thorpe on you tube is campaigning to have it reinstated .so dout it will show up in the network?
what gets me is police have digital systems for public to submit driving offences , by cyclists etc and a video i just watched show a phone app which catches cars speeding and this is able to be submitted to police / authorities for prosecution ?!

This makes very depressing reading.

By nature I’m not good at all in dealing with officialdom.

If this happened to me for sure it’d kick off in a big way.

I hope you make a complaint and have the tenacity to follow it through because it’s a disgrace.

That’s a shocking tale; absolute maggot the tealeaf, and I’m struggling to be much more generous about the police response.

I think that cctv pic is better than most; gotta be worth a shot on FB etc, someone with a sense of right and wrong knows him.

Glad no-one physically hurt

Correct e mail came through, uploaded a total of 4 videos showing the scrote. It’s a case of wait and see, not hopeful.

What was the issue with the household policy, if yoy don't mind me asking? Might be a lesson there for us all on appropriately insuring our watches.
