Omega servicing
Discussion
The vast majority of the UK's Omega watches are not sent here for servicing.
They go here:
Apparently it is only the vintage stuff that gets returned to Switzerland. Everything else goes to a rented office in Southampton.
Be very wary of sending a watch to Omega for service. If its a modern watch and you want it to come back looking brand spankers, fine. If you care about keeping the original parts, rather than having service replacements fitted then Omega is not a sensible option.

It's a long winded story which I've recounted before in these watch forums, but deleted when things looked like they might get legal and naming shaming etc.
I had an unreliable new Omega, I was misinformed about the warranty period by the AD (I was told it was three years when a coaxial was four), I could've had it fixed under warranty but that window was missed. Sent it to Omega via the AD for a service, they sent it to an independent without my knowledge (but charged me the Omega price). It came back with misaligned hands, dirt under the glass, really poor timekeeping. I contacted Omega to complain, that's when I discovered that it hadn't gone to Omega.
The AD then sent it to Omega and it came back as good as new, absolutely mint condition and the timekeeping is now quartz accurate, it's crazy good for a mechanical watch.
An Omega service is a lot of money, having trebled in price over just a few years, but still worth it imo. My watch is now perfect and redeemed.

Have had a few Omegas serviced at/by Omega over the years. My Speedmaster GMT Chronograph was about £600 last year, from memory. The watch keeps time perfectly.
I'm sure there are many independent service centres who would do as good a job, but the 2yr warranty is a nice to have on a watch that's 15 years old.

got a gold seamaster from 1966. WoS said at that age it would need to go back to Switzerland for service. Any UK alternatives? It would need new glass, seals and a winder which was replaced with a cheepo some decades back
At that age send it to Switzerland - they're rather slow but do a great job. And apologies - still haven't made it into Swansea but I will first thing. A friends brother suddenly passed away at 57 so have spent the afternoon with him.
I picked a qualified watchmaker from here.

A chap up the road in Wokingham. Made a great job of my speedy moonphase in 2 weeks for £600 and something. Like visiting a disney watchmakers lair.
Don't forget the indies. It's what some of us do with our cars after all.

@jj2908 I've just popped over to Stephen Hughes and was quite impressed by the knowledgeable staff member. Most servicing is done in-house and Omega inspect their workshop atleast annually. They're happy for you to email them photos of your watch and they'll let you know the price and if it will be done onsite. I'll pm you the details.
