A friend of mine started queuing at 2am in Basel. He texted me to be around the 30th in the queue. Haven’t heard back from him. He is probably sleeping laugh

I was looking at their brand list yesterday, they have a couple more higher end brand that would fit the mold here (High level brand gets a cheap swatch collab) but none of them have an iconic model that would suit this.

I feel like we'll see another Omega model before we'll see another brand collab.
Seamaster would be the obvious choice and would shift tons.

Walked past Oxford Street store just now and the queue is all the way back to the Hanover Square exit of the Elizabeth Line underground station with 10mins to go before opening. I’d be amazed if they’re all getting one today!

ETA - Had a chat with one of the security guys. Two blokes started queuing two days ago. Most since 10pm yesterday. Only 150 watches and there must be 300-400 in the queue. Doesn’t seem quite as mental as the Moonswatch launch so leave it a few weeks and it hopefully won’t be too bad. Also, I notice quite a few of the ones on eBay haven’t sold or have sold for ‘only’ £600ish which is going to discourage some of the scalpers hopefully. However time will tell with those selling online from today.

They were freely available at the Trafford Centre at midday today. Approx 30 people in the queue, though for what reason I can’t fathom. I took a look at the display cabinet and thought they looked even nastier than the press photos.

Because there are people who will pay over the odds to own the latest "hype" item, even if it's a piece of st. Get one, and you can double your money at the expense of the absolute fking idiot who pays whatever markup you can get away with. Most of them don't want the watch; they want the opportunity to flip it.

Looked on ebay, resale values quickly dropped, looking at actual sold items the first couple seem to have gone for £1300 but then, I assume as more started listing, values quickly dropped to £650-700, still not a bad payday.

There's a lot on there listed now though and I imagine resellers will soon start undercutting each other to try and offload them, or maybe return them back to the shops?

If £300ish is your budget, why waste half of it on the "it's got an expensive brand name" markup?
This is the entire problem in a nutshell.

Value for money is entirely in the mind of the purchaser but when a far superior product is available at a similar price point, and your budget is limited surely but the best.

When I bought my Omega Seamaster 2531.80 it was £1600. I felt that there was nothing better in terms of luxury brand, quality, comfort & style at that price & the Rolex Submariner felt way over priced at nearly £3000!

How wrong I was, but for the right reasons.

There are ways round it for sure, but swatch are limiting to one per customer per day.

Is that real or a wind-up (pun intended)?

It is a wind up (for now) but I wouldn't bet against it happening.

I'd buy one of them.

Packaging and presentation is a whole lot nicer than the Moonswatches ... have to say I was on the fence about the 50fathoms but think I will def be getting one now - really liked the look of that, esp in the green, which I didnt expect at all.

They look really good in the 'hands on' review videos that are now starting to appear.

As already mentioned, the packaging and travel case you get with it is certainly a lot better than the MoonSwatch.

I'm loving the "don't buy them" reviews from all the youtubers who didn't manage to get one yet smile

It looks pretty good from the actual hands-on reviews I've seen, and it looks like the movement is serviceable after all.
