Hi all,

looking to get my man something special for Christmas - can anyone recommend a reliable and reputable watch supplier?

Would prefer not to brave the shops if at all possible!

Thanks!

I bought a lovely old Zenith manual wind from Austin Kaye.

Chronomaster seems very helpful.

Resurrect an old thread, how about now in 2015? For the likes of Breitling, Omega etc

Seems like good savings to be had, but which ones are trustworthy? (and will actually supply a watch!)

Iconic are good, got my Panerai from them earlier this year. Would also trust DomH got my Sub from him the other year and before that had a couple from Darren Rae too.

Would happily buy from them agin next time I want a watch

What do people think/know of Official Watches? In particular their buyback guarantee?

Judging by the levels of stock, not a massive company but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I notice Watchfinder have a similar guarantee, but sounds like there's a price premium to pay for it:

I can second a recommendation for Dominic, having sourced a couple of JLCs for me over the years.

OW are worth a visit. Pop in and see them, you'll get their full and undivided attention, and if interested they will happily pull out case after case and let you play with some watches that will blow your mind away....sometimes they have more Richard Mille than anything else. Kind of says something.

I find that many other places just aren't for me - suits just churning through mostly generic Rolex trade.

I'd be more wary about going to Green Lanes (it's awful, my gf lives 10 mins away).

Seems legit though, domain registered to owner who is listed as a company director. Gives you a few addresses to burn down if your deal goes tits up.

I like shopping just from chrono24 and using the dealer recommendations to have confidence in overseas buyers, or just go there myself if in the UK.

For guaranteed hassle free you can go to watch finder, though their pricing is not as tight as it used to be from what I can tell, but for buying a 'regular' sort of Rolex model for a present or such, they are pretty hard to beat as very straightforward and even give you interest free credit - though you can get a better deal if you don't go for that.

Steffans in Northampton are good as well. They have a guaranteed price buy back on their used watches where the price you buy at will be the price they give you when you trade it back in later.

They usually have Tissot, Rado, TAG, Longines, Panerai, Omega and some very nice Dietrichs in stock.

I can personally and highly recommend Chris at Samuel fine & co watches http://www.samuelfineandco.co.uk/
I have bought a few pieces and have met in person many times now.
He is down to earth, honest and his prices are some of the best, especially for new/unworn omega.
