at that money I'd consider a Seiko Springdrive? Maybe the badge snobbery thing might count against it though!
Yes a Seiko Srpingdrive could be on the cards...... I'm looking at an Oris so badge snobbery isn't an issue smile

Where in London can you get them from?
I wouldn't buy a Seiko in London, they can be had much cheaper on the net from reputable dealers.

I work in Oxford Circus so I've been looking around. This will be my first automatic so I wanted to get something funky that I can ware everyday.
Seriously, do yourself a big favour before buying a new watch. Go in to see http://www.secondtimeround.com/ they are in the antiques arcade, just behind Bond Street tube. It's mainly Rolex they sell. If you don't like what they have, then fine, but it's only 5 mins walk from where you work, so worth a butchers.

I like this:-

Kind of wish I'd went down the vintage route rather than buying new.

Seconded. They are good guys - there is sometimes a little wiggle-room on prices as well. Ive bought a couple from them and they did me a pretty fair deal buying something from me as well.

Try and get one with papers though, rather than getting caught up in the excitement and buying without.

I have a Tag Grand Carrera - cost me £2K, lovely watch IMO and I wear it everyday.

If I was clever, I would somehow magic a pic of it on this post.
