From what I can see they use movements such as ETA, Valjoux and Dubois-Depraz but almost all of them have been modified in some way while others have had certain components manufactured to their specifications.

This is for my polluce.

Automatic caliber ANONIMO 01.0 on base Sellita SW200 or ETA 2824-2, with rotor manufactured upon Anonimo specifications; 21 jewels, colimaçon finish, adjusted 4 positions, 28.800 A/h. Power reserve: 40 hours.
Version STEEL BRACELET: Automatic caliber ANONIMO 01.0 on base Sellita SW200 with rotor manufactured upon Anonimo specifications.
Functions
Hours, minutes, central seconds; date window at h. 4.

so yes they are bought in movenments made to spec but they are less than jalf the price of Panerai so not exactly trading just on history in the way of charging loads.

But panerai - for example - have no history of making their own movements.

Guess you are either a movement junkie or not.....

I think Panerai realised they were going to *have* to start developing their own movements to justify their prices, or get ripped apart by the replica manufacturers... Panerai (given that they use ETA movements, mostly) appear to be the second most 'replicated' watch after Rolex. It's going to be difficult for even a Panerai fan to differentiate a well-finished fake from a real Panerai when they use stock movements...

I would give my left kidney for a PAM 279 I absolutely adore that watch but £4K+ ? no thanks, £2k I'd have one on my wrist now

Its puzled me for a while how they manage to get away with charging that much. People buy them so there must be a market for them

I looked at the Anonimo's in Jura Watches (Burlington Gardens) & was so impressed I went and did a deal on a lovely pre-owned, but never worn Cronoscopio via TZ-UK.

Pics in a few days.

If you want a cheap Anonimo look here and follow the auction:-

It's already on my 'watch list' smile but it will hit a more sensible amount imo. Add to that import duty and VAT and the risk that if not as described how you would deal with a return etc, it isn't likely to be a deal of the century afaic, though would like to be wrong.
Didn't seem dear to me at £720, in fact quite a bargain really.
