THREAD RESURRECTION ALERT...!!

I've just picked up a SNK809 Seiko 5 off ebay as pictured above, but it comes with the stainless strap. Where can i get a good quality NATO/webbing type strap for it? I like the look of the genuine Seiko webbing strap, but I'm open to ideas. I believe it's an 18mm strap.

Cheers,
Nige.

How about here: https://www.shop.helpforheroes.org.uk/products.php...

I think they are 18mm.

You cheated by slowing the shutter speed down to bring the lum intensity up... hence the swish effect of the second hand. wink

I kind of had to so that the actual watch was visible, here is what it looks like with a short exposure, taken under pretty much the same lighting conditions.

My 5 arrived on New Years Eve from Singapore and I've got to agree that it's a cracking looking watch. I'm really pleased with it considering it's the first watch I've bought without trying!

Just need to get my Nato strap ordered now. Any ideas on what can I use to get the original spring bars off? I don't own the correct pry tool, so wondered what else I could use for the job...?

Seiko's are very good. I have an automatic 7016 chronograph from the 70's and I love it. It was my dad's watch and he gave it to me about 13 years ago. Everything still works and it keeps good time after all those years.

Worth considering Ollech & Wajs (O&W) watches aswell though. Swiss built, rare and very good value.

As my first venture into Automatics, and as a safe cheap option, i have just placed an order for a Seiko 5. Looks simple yet stylish enough.

Not sure how much a nice Hamilton would be, either new or lightly used/ex display etc.

Also have a search for Poljot they do good quality soviet military styles.

thought i'd just update this, bought one of the Seiko 5 black military automatic with cloth strap, cost me just south of £40 from singapore. All I can say is I've had it on since just before Christmas and it has lost less than 1 minute in 5 weeks, much impressed. Thanks for the steer peeps, I so impressed I think I'll add another Seiko within the year. clap

Yeah mine was never great, there is a way to adjust it - but it's probably not recommended unless you know what you're doing!
As for the power reserve, mine seems to stay for about a day or 2 if it's not worn I think.
Although i don't tend to wear it much these days, so can't really remember!

Thanks Owain, I can see a tiny lever with a +/- on it through the clear back, so I guess that's it, but will need adjusting by a professional.

Thanks for confirming the "charge" time, I was wondering if the day/two days was a bit on the low side. I guess I shouldn't be comparing it to my Omega..!!

Yeah it depends on the watch really, the seiko Kinetic watches now have pretty long power reserves ( months ring a bell, but I may be wrong! ) Whereas the seiko 5, and the older auto watches have a relatively short time.
I normally wear my seiko diver watch daily, so never really noticed it stopping unless I didn't wear it for a day or two. was fine wearing it through the day, leaving it overnight but a few days and it normally stops.

Yeah the +/- thing, I remember reading a bit about it a while back, when I got one of my seiko 5's with the clear case - but decided against it!

someone told me that these watches are ETA 2824 movement, not sure how they would look with a decent strap though but for £75 it must be worth it for the movement alone, does anyone have one? http://www.swatch-shop.co.uk/swatchautomatics.htm
