I am looking at selling my SS 16610 sub year 2006, I dont really want to, but need to finance a new run around car.

Understand the market is a bit crap but do you think its worth ebaying as a xmas present for someone??

1. Create a thread entitled 'what's my Sub worth', making sure to post lots of pictures and a condition report for clarity.
2. Post an ad in the PH classifieds.
3. Try ebay, but close to Crimbo now and watch for scammers.....

AFAIK, one of the scams is to buy the watch, send money via Paypal, but then just before the payment is confirmed and actually credited to you (I think it's after +ve feedback or so many days have elapsed), they say they haven't received it and the payment is reversed and they disappear with watch and cash. Always wait for the payment to be completely cleared before sending anything of value.

However, as you're not allowed to post actual adverts on this part of the site, rumour has it that if you post photo's/details and ask for a valuation, then someone may just make you an offer...... whistle

Might be an idea to ask on this forum. http://www.rolexforums.com/

Let me know what you think its worth, dreamwatches just offered £2100, but I think this is low??

Was watching a Sub on eBay last night that went for £2,070 with box/papers. Either a 2000 or an '02 - perfect conditions but had not been serviced.

Agree that £2,100 seems a bit low, but I don't think it's that far out...

I am a member of TZ-UK and our members are always after good to mint condition watches like this. You wouldn't be able to post the watch in the Sales Corner until you have reached 50 posts in other sections of the forum, but will keep my eyes open and my ear to the ground in case anyone is after one like yours, which is very nice BTW, but I prefer them without the cyclops.

i don't think that's a bad offer, from a dealer too.

i tried to sell my SD about 1 year ago and couldn't get any interest at £2250 and it is in very good condition and boxed with papers. only the faint scratches you get on the bracelet stopped it being mint.

kind of glad now it didn't sell, but that's another story smile

Thanks for all the advice. I still dont fancy selling it and will look at other finance options also, as its my fave/only posh watch and seems silly to sell just for a car!!

Not the best time to sell I know either..

I hesitate to say this as it's a gut feel and I have no figures, but keep in mind that thanks to Rolex's near annual price increases, there's a very good chance that your Sub will appreciate more over a couple of years than it would cost to get a loan over a short period of time.

Assuming mint with box and papers around £2.4k seems to be what they're going for on various watch forums.

Funny enough I was walking past the AD in Farnham today and he wa talking to a couple outside looking at Rolex in the window and he mentioned an immenent price hike in the RRP, so think going to hang onto the watch and look at short term loans, as rates are so cheap.

Thanks for all the advice guys
