my vote is for the seamaster,

here is mine that i picked up this week,

My vote too, although I went for the lighter weight and more subdued finish of the titanium version.

Nice, I love both of these although the titanium seamasters must be rare as hens teeth you very rarely see them on forums.
I had to go up to the London Omega shop to actually get to see one close up and try it on etc. But, they only had the blue face one which I found a bit leery TBH, and I see that they have now dropped it. But I love the subdued look and feel of the titanium, and the fact that the titanium one weighs 2/3 the weight of the stainless steel one was a big plus for me, as I really like heavy watches.
Once I decided, my friendly local high street Omega dealer ordered it in for me and I got a nice deal to boot.

Ordered an Orange Bezel PO yesterday, should be here in around four weeks...

Thanks for the opinions all, the SM Chrono was just a little too bulky and I suspect it wouldn't have gone under a shirt...

So, next question - where's the best place to get different straps for it (except an Authorised Dealer of course!)

Thanks

Please can I ask for recommended retailers who give discounts. I am looking to buy a planet ocean in the next week or 2, but my local watch dealer who is selling it for £2000 has only offered me a 10% discount. They have also told me to be quick deciding as they say Omega are increasing there prices by 10% very soon.
I feel this has been mentioned to maybe ake me jump in & take their offer & pay £1800.

What do you experts think? Is it a good price ?

Thanks for your help.

Goldsmiths in Swansea gave me over 20% off my ordered (not in the window) speedy pro and Cardiff offered 15%.

They were both last summer, I can't see sales doing anything but slowing down so try a large chain and work your way around.

Most won't talk over the phone though so be prepared to call into each shop and play them off one another.

Also: if you think you're going to buy on leather or rubber, and then switch to steel, buy it on the bracelet and get the other afterwards. The Omega SS bracelet is fearsomely expensive, whilst the leather and rubber straps are only eye-wateringly so.

Thanks Peter, It was goldsmiths who offered me the 10% discount. It was up in the window for £2000 & they said they would reduce it to £1800.

I must admit I'm terrible at negotiating prices downwards as I feel really embarrased & cheeky. I felt bad asking for a discount in the 1st place. But if I can get 20% off & get it for 1600, that would be great.

Yes. Agree with this, hence why I bought it on SS. You save about £100 by doing it that way.

The most you can get out of goldsmiths is 10%, the PO price rise will take it to 2250GBP.

I reckon you still can get 20% discount, if you try really hard around some of the independants,

seen a few good condtion 2nd hand deal's on other forums and sites, around 1200 to 1500GBP.

Good luck, hope you get a good deal on the watch you are looking for.

Thanks Pastrana72, Can you tell me why some users have recently managed to get 20% of at goldsmiths although now you think the max will be 10%.
I'm also thinking that the price rise can only apply to new stock, so currently a watch for sale in store for £2000, cant reasonably be increased by 10%. Can it?

I can only speak from my experience, I bought an Omega last tuesday from goldsmiths after much searching for the model I wanted which had been discontinued. 10% was all I got, pushed hard for 15-20%, but computer said NO.

It was all the manager had discretion to offer, I did walk away and come back a few days later to try again.

Discount depends on the watch too at Goldsmiths, I could get 20% on brietling and 25% on some Tag's and virtually nothing or 5% on rolex.

so it is highly likely others have been able to get 20% on a omega at goldsmiths, fair play to them, but i did Try. biggrin

I Could not get one from other local AD's and no one had one or could source it.

If I had time, to travel to larger cities i could have maybe got 20%, but my time and fuel would have to fiqure in this saving, I also wanted to get from an AD relativly local to where i live, which is not easy.

The price rise should only be on new stock, current stock should and can be sold on at old price, but I would not want to bet on that. I have already noticed a rise in window prices, and surely they are not shifting that much new watches.

If you can try and get a PO for 1600GBP, if you go in and say this is what i want to pay, you may get lucky now,

Good luck.

Edit. I am wrong I bought my watch from E&J, not goldsmiths, I got confused.

Still you have not got anything to loose push for the highest discount you can acheive.

Picked my watch up this morning, very happy with it, not going to bother posting pictures as its nothing special or unique even if it does represent my reaching a personally significant mile stone in my life...

The only drawback is I keep checking the time, and although fun as it is to admire my new prized possession it ain't half making the morning go slow!

Is the triple date a reduce model?

I want a full size speedy, does the extra 3mm make much difference?
