Hmmm, pen geeks eh? Well, in that case you might be able to help me out. I've had a Fisher Space Pen for years and although it's a horrid, scratchy thing to write with, it fits perfectly into my wallet. My question is - does anyone know of a fountain pen with the same dimensions as my Space Pen, as I really would like to swap it, but enjoy knowing that it's always there when I need it.
Cheers.
Conway Stewart used to do some tiny fountain pens, might be able to find one at a secondhand / vintage dealerCheers.

Commander J,
Re your earlier post about the Pelikan, I've not had one but a good business colleague has a set of the fountain pen, ball point and pencil. They really do look classy, are not hugely expensive and he says he's never had a complaint about them. I like the dark green/black striping on the barrel and the top, and the fancy knib suits it as well.
Cherwitt,
Pelikan are worth a good look in my view. Something in my mind is telling me they are part of the Mont Blanc Group; other PHers will confirm or correct this.

Posting as a "double geek" (!) my daily writer and favourite pen for quality, build and ease of use has to be the Pelikan.
Check out the range at TheWritingDesk (no afiliation but they provide a lot of help and great service)
I guess this pic is ok to post in here as it ticks both boxes.
Good luck with your search.
Cheers,
Nigel

The seamaster is one of my "birth year" watches ('62) I'll post up some further details in a separate post with some extra pics (any excuse, eh!!).
@TheLeaper
Don't believe Pelikan are owned by MB. It's listed in Switzerland but owned in Malaysia.
They are certainly the smoothest writer that I have come across - but that might just be my writing style!
Cheers,
Nigel
Mine was a present from g/f for my 40th...Parker Duofold. Easily my favoutite of all the premium pens.
Centennial size (the largest size) is the one to have; like watches, big is better. Mine's classic black. Centennial version came out in 1988 to comemmorate 100 years of the Duofold

anything in carbon fibre anywhere?
it has to be a fountain pen - -no offence but a ball point just isn't "it"
Dunhill certainly used to do a couple of carbon-fibre fountain pens.it has to be a fountain pen - -no offence but a ball point just isn't "it"

My favourite pen is a Dunhill Torpedo in silver. It has a ballpoint at one end and a screw-off cap at the other, into which you can fix various accessories, such as a fountain-pen nib, cigar cutter, etc. Sounds gimmicky but it's beautifully made, has a stunning weight and feel in the hand and you don't see a lot of them about.
My everyday pen is a Cross Townsend, again in silver. I've had it for just over 10 years and it's now got that lovely slightly battered/patinated quality. I've never found a fountain pen that writes as well as this one (and I currently own about a dozen). That said, I think fountain pens are extremely subjective and what feels right for one person may not suit another.
I have 3 Mont Blancs, one of which I bought when I was younger (thought they were the height of sophistication and a sure sign I'd arrived ) and two of which were given to me as gifts. All three have leaked constantly, notwithstanding several return trips to the AD to have them repaired and serviced. I've now given up on them. I accept that a lot of posters here have been very happy with theirs but it sounds to me like there can be very significant variations in quality from MB to MB, which is something you might want to take into consideration when buying for your best man.
