Where can I get one of these homage watches?
I love the look..!
Hi ThereI love the look..!
Ray Knight no longer makes hommages but they do still come up on watchuseek which is how I got mine.
The sterile dial ones like mine are also available from Joa and Davidsen - both handmake to your specs just as Ray Knight did. Difference - if it matters - is that Ray is US based and the others are Hong Kong based. Email addresses are one Watchuseek.com if you decide to go for one.
You can also dip your toe into the hommage water with sellers such as Military Time who do Asian movement pieces for less than £100.
Whatever you choose I always suggest budgeting for a nice strap too - like this Vintager or one from Toshi - it really sets the watch off nicely IMO
Cheers

Hommage - English to mean any public show of respect to someone to whom one feels indebted. ...
Homage - Respectful deference; "pay court to the emperor"
Ah, I see.
I wasn't actually commenting on the correct (or otherwise) spelling of the word.Homage - Respectful deference; "pay court to the emperor"
Ah, I see.
I'm afraid that the whole concept is anathema to me.

I just don't see why it's any different to buying a fake really.
And, sorry to the OP, this particular one looks less than great
I know what you mean about the hommage/fake thing - it's a difficult one to reconcile and one that divides opinion sharply. I wouldn't want anything with Panerai printed on the dial that wasn't a Panerai...And, sorry to the OP, this particular one looks less than great
Looks wise it's actually a lot nicer than my rubbish photography makes it look but then again if we all liked the same stuff it would be a boring old world wouldn't it.
In terms of quality as I said it's hand made with a swiss unitas movement - it's surprisingly on a par with the two Tags I have in terms of feel and time keeping is also as good.
All the best

no wish to offend, each to his own as you say.
I just can't reconcile the concept of something so obviously close to the original not being regarded as a fake.

if it is something that is no way in hell a Panerai (eg blue and red dials), how is it a problem?
It has exactly the same case and hands and markers on the main and sub dial as a Panerai the numbers are also the same, just in different colours. What else is there to copy?
A true hommage should be 'in the style of ' another watch these Panerai-a-likes are copy watches.

It's no way in hell like a Panerai (well at least the price is nothing like one).
A) "Hey nice watch, it's a Panerai isn't it?"
B) "Er no it's a Hommage."
A) "What?"
B) "A Hommage, It's a watch that looks just like another"
C) "A fake?"
A) "No it's not a fake, even though it's an exact copy of the distinctive Panerai case with crown guard, hands, numbers and markers, it doesn't actually say Panerai on it and the numbers are a different colour! It's no way a fake, they're disgusting! Panerai are way overpriced and most only have ETA movements, they have no history, what a rip off etc etc etc "
B) "hmm"
