According to their website its an in house hand-wound mechanical, Panerai OP XI calibre with swan's neck regulator, 16½ lignes, 17 jewels, Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges. Glucydur® balance with Nivarox® I spring, 21,600 alternations/hour.

Cheers

Nobody would ever consider an unbranded daytona copy with slightly different hour markers to be a unique creation.
Client of mine has one of those super rare navy faced Daytonas. 2008 model. I'm too polite to point out the obvious, and he clearly doesn't think that I know a thing about watches. rolleyes

Um, I'm confused.

There are loads of Rolex-a-likes and Seamaster-a-likes in the Argos Catalogue (as close as you can get for someone like me who can't tell the difference between a real and a fake).

They use modified bought-in movements in some watches, and they use their own movements in others.

You hear many people saying their copy panerai is unique etc which is at least a bit odd seeing as it's a copy of a genuine one with minor cosmetic changes. Nobody would ever consider an unbranded daytona copy with slightly different hour markers to be a unique creation.
I keep saying it and point is that they are unique cos thay are to your specification otherwise you may as well buy one of the hundreds of ebay ones which come pretty close to the 'replica' description. If you get one from Ebay you get no choice and end up with one that hundreds of other people have.

If there was a manufacturer that did a daytona 'copy' that allowed you to specify the face type and colour, the markers and colour, the movement, the case finish, the hands, the lume type and colour, then I would be in the market for one - ignoring the small fact that fact they are too small for me.

Thats the whole point of the Ray Knight, JOA and Davidsen - bespoke customisation.

p.s. to answer another question - I'm sure Pan's generally use SOPROD ETA movements

I have a Tag homage, bought when i was 12 from a Nigerian in San Antonio, He said it was real but i think i always knew. Apart from the badge being slightly skew i think its an accurate depiction of a Tag. £250 if anyone's interested.

Untill recently most Panerai have used Unitas (ETA) movements with some watches using Zenith, Minerva and even JLC movements.

Now Panerai have developed three of their own in house movements for use on some watches like the radiomir and GMT and those with day reserve complications. I understand they are making or have already made their own tourbillon also.

Worth, not sale price. You paid (guessing) 100pts?

All of 100pts, perhaps less, i did barter him down from around 40000pts. How they can afford the losses I'll never know.

But it won't look like a genuine Panerai if it has Ray Knight on the front.

The only people who might confuse it with a real Panerai haven't even heard of Panerai.

"1..."
"Ok, my friend, 39,000..."
"2..."
"Ok, me ol' mucker*, 38,000..."
"3..."
"Lovely jubbly*, 37,000..."

Your wasting your time on here Dai, you will just get flamed - strange cos you don't on any of the proper watch forums.

Here is my Ray Knight - how anyone in the right mind could possibly think this is a real pan is beyond me, but this lot seemed to get the goat when I posted mine.

V nice!!! Really like that
