What watches do you think wear well on a NATO strap? Some? None? All?

My entry - a watch for whom I think the bracelet's just a bit weedy (although very well made):

I vote "woo". (and "yay")

BTW, for those who might be wondering "What the feck is Jameson rambling on about now?", a NATO strap is a nylon fabric strap that's specified in Defence Standard 66-47/2. Irrespective of what you think they look like, they're extremely comfortable.

ETA: diagram and DEF STAN number.

Can't. It's not mine; I just did a Google Images search for "Rolex Submariner NATO" and found it that way.

Why not buy a decent bracelet? It makes the watch look cheap and not particularly rugged. Despite being a diver, it does have an elegant design to it. I saw a Date-just on a Nato. Looked pretty daft.

I've got a U-boat style watch on a black Nato that does work well. Works far better than the (thick) leather strap or a cloth strap that I tried it on. Also have a 22mm one on a cheap sports watch with a 20mm lugwidth that makes it seem chunkier. It really depends on the watch.

Depends on the watch, I think. Can work quite well on Damaskos, some Sinns, etc. Doesn't work for me on that Rolex, but each to their own! thumbup

I like them, wear my work watch on one all the time, real easy to take off and wash every few weeks when it gets all dirty.

How do you wash them? Just throw them in the washing machine? What about leather straps?

Obviously called a NATO strap for a reason - worn by the military lot so that if one holding pin goes AWOL (see what I did there), the whole watch doesn't fall off.

I had a simple Seiko divers quartz when I was in the Army with a NATO strap.

Now I'm a civvy, and have been for a while, and not in a situation where it shoiuld be an issue - I don't worry about it.

It's as valid as having a LR Defender for the weekly Waitrose shop if you live in Cheam - However, if you live in the Highlands...

Interesting. Under-strapped, unpretentious two-fingered salute to the slightly over-inflated image that accompanies Rolexes these days.

Scruffy but cool. Love it.
