I’ve recently got a new job as a restaraunt manager in a posh restaurant and am looking for a hard wearing but nice looking watch.
I've trawled thru the pages on here now for a couple of weeks and have seen some nice looking watches but don’t honestly know what to get. I’ve seen tags, monsters, omegas, longines……. but I want something that looks nice, somewhat posh and if it gets scratched I’m not going to cry.
My budget is around £1000 but if it goes over I’m not that fussed.
It doesn’t matter if it’s brand new or second hand. The watch I'm wearing now is 25 years old, so age doesn’t matter.
Any colour other than gold or rose gold. Any help would be great.

Sinn (from www.chronomaster.co.uk) or Damasko (from www.timefactors.com)

I go with Tertius. Sinn preferably - tough and hard wearing but chic enough. Also look at Stowa. The cheapest hard wearing watch though will be a Seiko like the Monster at around £140 or go further and look at Seiyajapan for a few ideas nearer your price bracket. A watch for life.

Thanks - That watch owes me about £100.00 including getting it bead blasted, so plenty of change from your budget.

I always advocate buying pre-owned & having a good look on the TZ-UK sales corner to see what takes your fancy.

Someting like a tegimented Sinn 857 with the tegimented bracelet is just about as tough as you could get with a mechanical movement (and one went recently on TZ-UK for around than your budget). The tegimented steel is extremely scratch resistent.

Damasko's also spring to mind - they have ice hardended cases, but don't come with a bracelet.

For even greater robustness - the quartz Marathon TSAR, or CSAR are also tough as old boots and come up for circa £300.00

Not a popular watch among some, but Ceramic Rados look brand new for years, thanks to their cases.

I would imagine you can pick up a preowned Omega Seamaster Professional for that sort of money. That would get my vote.

I am assuming that you will be front of house and meeting and greeting. In which case, would go for a Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, hard wearing, stylish, understated and you can get them within your budget.

Or perhaps have a look at Christopher Ward watches, nothing over £500 and plenty to choose from - I personally very much like the C13 and C15 watches.

I am sure you will have more suggestions, let us know what you decide and post some pictures when you can.

If it's a posh restaurant, then something along the lines of the Aqua terra or a used Speedmaster, would be my choice maybe a Sinn.
Until recently I was in pub management, a wear either a Seiko divers watch on a nato strap or a speedmaster reduced.
The speedmaster is recognized by a fair few customers, but it's not an in your face watch, very understated, and when a customer comes in wearing a Sub it doesn't take the lime light off them.

Speedy or Seamaster stylish and good value. There are lots to choose from second hand, buy right and you will not go wrong with those two.

The crown came off when adjusting the time early in its life, but was fixed without fuss under warranty and has been fine since.

tongue out

But that's just a diver watch without the bezel wink and looks like a millon other seiko/rolex/sekonda/omega jobbies.

But why do they have to be so fat?
