I waited up until 00.05 this morning to try and get one from Bamford London, popped two in my cart and they were sold out by the time I'd hit the checkout at 00.06.
By pure luck they were in stock when I checked the official G Shock UK site this morning around 9.30ish, so managed to get one ordered. Allegedly a "very" limited production run, but we'll see!

I love the negative display, I had it on my day to day G-Shock.
A lot of people complain about reading them but I've never had a problem, yes you sometimes have to angle them correctly admittedly.
I've just ordered a full metal negative display and also a full metal silver and will keep the one I prefer.

Agreed although I thought the display was an old style green LCD. Certainly in the Hodinkee it looks geenA lot of people complain about reading them but I've never had a problem, yes you sometimes have to angle them correctly admittedly.

Sorry, I was just talking about the standard negative display in general!
It looks like the light is on in your photo however, but I could be wrong. They did a negative red display which was pretty cool but definitely more vivid with the backlight on.
Also the best thing about these new Gs is you can set it to DD/MM rather than MM/DD for the date.

Double incoming today - cool Casioak and the new sports G-Shock with heart rate monitor.
Had a 10km run this morning and took my Garmin with me too. The GPS on the new GBD-H1000 is pretty good. Was fast to get a signal and was a few meters different to the Garmin.
Heart rate monitor was as accurate as the Garmin too. Overall am very happy with the G-Shock and the information displayed in the app.

Just wondering if you would mind giving a long term update/mini review on the gbd h1000?
I'm considering getting one but I'm just wondering if they have made any improvements via software updates or if there is anything major I should be aware of before purchasing?
Thanks in advance.

Hello - I'll do my best. . . . . . Just wondering if you would mind giving a long term update/mini review on the gbd h1000?

Summary is - for a specific outdoor cardio tracking (running, cycling, skating etc) watch I really like it and it serves the purpose well. Where it misses is on tracking more static / strength / gym based activities. On a treadmill it can monitor your heart rate and step count but for some reason not your distance run (for example).
I have 16.5cm wrists and find it comfortable to run with. It stays in position well and you can configure it to bleep and vibrate at various intervals (I have it set to 1km intervals). I have disabled the heart rate vibrating and alerting when you exceed your max heart rate.
Some people have complained that the GPS takes a long time to lock. I have not experienced this at least I don't find 2-3 mins to obtain a lock long. I did my first few runs with the watch and my iPhone using the "MapMyRun" app, and found them pretty close to each other.
The watch is so easy to read - even with my rubbish 50 year old eyes I can read the dial without my glasses. The main time display is super crisp as are all the displays to be honest.
You can configure the watch faces either on the watch or through the app - I use the app as I find it easier to read.
When your running you can configure the screen to show all sorts of measures - the screen is divided into 3 with the top and bottom 3rds being smaller and the middle data more prominent. I think I have my main running screen to show heart rate on top, average time per km on the bottom and the distance run in the middle. But like I say it is completely configurable.
The app is ok. Not as intuitive as the Garmin app for example - but gives you lots of data. Distance, inclination +/-, max / min heart rate and time sustained, distance, steps, VO2 max, recovery time etc etc etc. It also stores your run as a map - and allows you to set a run route in advance.
I find that the watch and my iPhone X don't sync well together. I have to manually select connect from the watch and then connect via the bluetooth menu on the phone.
Otherwise as I say - it's a great runners watch - I use it almost everyday. I go to the gym on a Saturday and wear it there but have to manually update my entries on my exercise tracking app. I charged it on the USB plug when I bought it and again last week. Battery is monumental.
1 update to the app - no updates for the watch.
Hope that helped - but feel free to ask anything. If you want some screenshots of anything I can do that too.
