So...
Recently discovered my 20+ year old A163W in a drawer - last warn circa 2010...still keeping perfect time and only 1 day out on the calendar!!
Been wearing it for a few weeks now and really enjoying moving back to a proper watch from a smartwatch. It's been great during sport, in the garden and working (the hourly beep is really useful!).
It has it's flaws though - I wore it in the shower and it steamed up and a previous owner has stripped the screw head when changing a battery so the back isn't as tight as it should be.
Looking at options and like the look of the G5610 - is it a good purchase for about £90? More worried about size as despite having massive wrists, I have enjoyed the small compact form factor and I think this is a compact G-Shock.

I liked the look of the Android Wear OS G-Shock but don't fancy paying £600 as don't trust Google to not arbitrarily disable the features a couple of years down the line like they did with the Sony and Tag Wear OS watches.
Looks like the official site has a decent sale on at the moment

My Sony SW2 slowly had its features disabled the older it got.
The final straw was the Android wear phone app update that stopped it showing text messages.

• 5 world time settings (48 cities), 31 time zones, the additional 2 time zones are for the cities of Fernando de Noronha (-2) and Kathmandu (+5.75)

I'm back looking at G's again (seems to be a quarterly phase!) and this time I fancy a GA-710B-1A4.
Anyone who has one care to share any feedback please?
Also there a couple of outlets which appear on google with a price that's too good to be true... anyone heard of Tecobuy or Ultra Online UK?!?
I have this watch in a sand colour, no complaints at all, I think i've had it about 12 months and its a very solid watch, probably on the larger side of G-Shocks but I like that about it. Anyone who has one care to share any feedback please?

As an aside i've just ordered a GBD-800-8ER to add to the collection, it has bluetooth and step tracking whcih was the main reason for the purchase, that and I like the style of it.
Anyone any experience with this model?
I know it's not a full Smart watch as such but honestly I don't want a full smart watch either, I had a Galaxy watch 3 and I have completely gone off smart watches as an idea, the whole receiving notifications on my wrist irritated me after a while as I felt the need to constantly check it whereas when my phone vibrates in my pocket I generally ignore it until i'm ready.

I bought one of those recently, it's a really good watch. Robust, keeps perfect time as it connects each night and goes to sleep when not needed. The only gripes are the buttons are really recessed into the case surround which make more difficult than necessary to use them. That aside, a great watch. Impressive g shocks here!
I'm considering a 'square' and my top choice has been discontinued :-(
The black case and minimal colour writing were ideal for me on the DW-5600E-1VER. Bonus was at the cheaper end of the squares too.
Is it possible Casio could release another basic bread and butter model, or is it just not popular enough being basic and plain?
I just want a no thrills basic 5600 with positive display, no solar, no extra functions and no extra colours.

I had a 5610, but struggled with it being completely comfortable. Tried the std strap, nato, aftermarket bracelet (about the best), the watch used to rotate around my wrist so the face was always pointing away from me unless it was really tight. I don’t have very big wrists - 8 1/2” and found it small on my wrist (not a problem), I think the colour helps.
Tbh the ga-2100 i found far better to wear.
Been looking at Gshock squares alot since I posted last week..
I noted the basic dw5600-1ver being discontinued... It appears just in UK and still available in other countries.
Amazon Europe still get some in and I just missed out on a batch... Were £81, now out of stock but due back in at £88.
Will likely have reductions again at some point.
Amazon also have the 5610 at £100 same as Argos. Originally didn't want to mess around concerned with charging a solar watch. However seems if you wear it regularly it's nothing to worry about.
Have also seen Amazon at £91 for this model.
Has anyone seen better prices for these models? Both are iconic and think I'm leaning towards waiting for a price drop again on the 5610.
Frustrating that the basic dw56001ver is cheap in other countries, and £80 is a large premium for what it is.
My final slight temptation is the 5600bb. Basic 5600 but all blacked out. I will use the watch daily including evening runs and use in poor light so the negative display could be an issue. Not sure as only based on internet research.
However it is a bargain at £65 on Amazon!
Any insight at all please from 5600 square owners?

I now officially have a 'collection' I firmly lay the blame at Robbie Khan
Started with the W-86-1VQES, at £17 on Amazon. Then, the GW-M5610-1ER which, is just such a great watch. Last week I was up in the lakes and the family left me alone so I looked at something else which had caught my eye.
Bought today on Amazon for £250. I was looking at the 1000 but I really like the smaller (relative) size and price of this one.
Damn you Robbie

A little bit of help please guys? I have a 5444 which ran low on power, solar so charged up and all good apart from the analogue time. It won't set no matter what I do. Hands move to avoid the digital displays so they're not completely dead.
I've tried all the guides on Youtube and no joy.
Many thanks

I posted this a few months ago before I knew we had a separate g shock thread. The left was new and the right nearly ten years old. The old one had served me well through three house renovations , umpteen bits of car maintenance as well as sea and pool swimming…It needed a new battery and strap during that time and all it ever got was a scrub with a soapy nail brush and hot water to “refresh” it !. I honestly don’t think any other watch could have coped with the rough treatment . I was quite surprised at how dramatic the look of ten years hard use against the new one was….the original was bought for approx $160 and the new was a better bargain at £68. Was going to bin old one but not so sure now…it still works fine but the adjusting buttons stopped functioning about three years ago…I just mentally adjusted the time for bst!. Maybe with a bit more care this one will last 20 years!
