I posted this a few months ago before I knew we had a separate g shock thread. The left was new and the right nearly ten years old. The old one had served me well through three house renovations , umpteen bits of car maintenance as well as sea and pool swimming…It needed a new battery and strap during that time and all it ever got was a scrub with a soapy nail brush and hot water to “refresh” it !. I honestly don’t think any other watch could have coped with the rough treatment . I was quite surprised at how dramatic the look of ten years hard use against the new one was….the original was bought for approx $160 and the new was a better bargain at £68. Was going to bin old one but not so sure now…it still works fine but the adjusting buttons stopped functioning about three years ago…I just mentally adjusted the time for bst!. Maybe with a bit more care this one will last 20 years!
You might find a full strip down could uncover the problem with the pusher, new strap and case for a few quid and it’s set for another 10 years…

Good point but I seem to remember the genuine replacement strap cost me £25 so don’t think costs would add up..the old one is in the drawer for now ..stored away with all its memories…..

It's here. For the size it's very light. Easy enough to setup but can't find a way to switch the date (yet). Compared to the GW-M5610 which is my do everything watch it's not as comfortable, the metal button at 3 o'clock can dig in, although it's a bit big for me tbh. Otherwise very happy. Found it new for £270 or so and it's good value IMO. On the mtb it's very clear and i'll break before it does biggrin

Just as a heads up - my GA-1000 stopped working; I thought it was the batteries but it seems it wasn't.

Contacted the Casio service centre, who as expected took the Japanese approach to customer service - if we made it and it's broken; send it to us.

Posted it to them, it arrived Wednesday, Thursday morning 9:10 I had an email telling me what it would cost to repair. I accepted it (£50 odd) for a replacement module. The following Wednesday it was back home working a charm.

Excellent service.

Has this delivered yesterday. It’s my first G, and I really like it. I liked the “Casioak” but wasn't sure of the full plastic case so the new metal version tipped the balance. I might even pick up a blue one too. I got a 15% discount code for a new purchase if anyone would like it?

Yes it is, sorry for the rubbish pic. The strap and face are both green but the case id a dark grey metallic, I had thought it was going to be green as well but its not. The Blue version has a blue case. It sits nicely on the wrist and to me is very light in comparison to most of my watches. I'd give one a try if I were you.

I just bought a regular black casioak yesterday, as I've been wanting one for ages. Then got a 10% off coupon today, looked, and they are still for sale?

I thought about buying another and reselling it, but can't be bothered for the small gain. Has supply finally met demand?

wouldn't it be better to buy another with 10% off, then send return the new one on the original full price receipt for refund?

If anyone fancies 15% try using the discount code that I was sent after buying a G. Use Justin Rowlands in the discount box. 1st time buyers only.

I've got three already. Red, black and skeleton but those metal ones are tempting. I have about 30 watches now with five gshocks. I have a problem

Hubbox finally gave me a collection code for the 2 watches. I'm screwed. Was going to return one, but in the end looks like I'm going to keep them both.

They are stunners.

The metal ones are a tempter, I was also very tempted by the yellow.... Need to not look at thus thread

Can't stand the silver buckle, though, how hard is it to make it in a few other colours?

Anyone know where I can get a black one for my GA2100?

Decided to only keep the green. A great looking watch. Love the olive green colour dial. Never been a fan of the bright green like on a Hulk.
