My eyesight must be getting a but iffy because I am now struffling to see the sweep on the stopwatch on my speedie which I use every weekend on race starts. So to all the yacht racing watch fans out there, what Regatta Watches do you have / do you recomend?

I know that these Suunto's are raved and rated but to me its far too complicated, all i need is a clear 5 minute count for the start, we have enough electronics onboard to do everything else ...

This is much more my style, but the "modern" versions are getting far to fussy and cluttered ...

so what ya got?

I've got a old Heuer Skipper (which is fairly useless for start timing).

Do quite fancy a Rolex Yachtmaster, although I actually wear a g-shock when messing about on boats.

needs to be to the second, from when the horn goes off.

(yes we do actually race that close, even in 40 footers ... 20 seconds late to the line has you 4 or 5 boatlengths behind the pack.)

Then this doesn't make sense. Parallax could have you starting too early or too late. Need to be a digital watch with a countdown timer. Casio probably do one for £15. biggrin

G-shocks tend to have countdown and alarms...

It has a sweep second hand, the coloured circles are just a quick referance to tell you which minute you are in ...
