Put my Yacht-Master on this morning but noticed that the part of the clasp that is along the strap isn't securely attached to the strap. I can't really explain it but the picture should illustrate it:

I never noticed it before and I was sure it didn't used to move away from the strap like that... Can anyone shine any light on the matter?

Thanks

I had this when I adjusted the size of the bracelet on my Orange Monster.

It's just where I done it wrong, I think.

It doesn't make any difference when wearing the watch, so I've not bothered trying to sort it.

A jewellers can probably sort it for a few quid? Some might not even charge.

That's the way its meant to work. The single point of attachment is for adjustment, so you can adjust it without taking links out (up to a point). The spare links tuck into the clasp, then the long pivot bit sits on top of those.

Yes I know but I didn't think until this morning the links just freely moved in and out of the long pivot bit....

It doesn't click into place.

I think I'll just take it to Goldsmith's tomorrow.

Yeah, my bad!

Just checked my Orange Monster.

There isn't really anything I can do about it on that to change it. I thought I messed it up when I re-sized it, but apparantly not.

Oh right cheers guys, obviously just didn't notice it before!

One more thing - how tightly is the clasp meant to lock into place (before you snap the little "gate" into place) because mine isn't really holding very tightly and before I thought it snapped into place (like the gate)?

It varies really. It should lock snugly without you having to exert excess pressure if that makes sense.

Seems easy to adjust if required.

I think most of them do that apart from the divers watches which have a special clasp that automatically extends the strap by (has to look at mine to see how much!) about 20mm so that it can fit over a wetsuit without any other adjustment.

You could have the jewellers take a link (or two) out, that way you could move the link under the clasp to the maximum position. Also it's not difficult to make the clasp tighter - they can do this for you too, it's just a question of gently (and minutely) bending the steel tab that sticks out.

If you want a top bracelet buy a Omega seamaster or get a strap I did both heres my sea dweller

I also did the same to my Rolex datejust

I did have a play with a deepsea at the weekend the bracelet was a lot better than on my SD but the watch is a bit to big for me.I do not know if a deepsea bracelt will fit other Rolex's.
