I've been thinking of investing a couple of hundred quid in ono of these second hand from ebay or spending a little more on a refurbished one. It says they are mid sized. I'd prefer the chronograph one if possible. SAnything I need to know about these? Obviously they are at the cheap end of Tag ownership but I like them and can afford one none the less.

That last sentence says a lot about the snobbery kicking around the watch forums... There's fk all wrong with the F1 watches, if you like it, go for it. So it won't be an automatic, so what? It'll keep time and be hard-wearing... those aren't bad things. Seriously, don't be put off a watch because the nerds on the internet will only talk about Seiko Monsters and Phil Patek. Pretentious guff.
I have a couple, an early one with white case and a yatch on the face and a black one with black bezel and strap, they are getting on now but are still pretty watchs, thay are small so btake that into account, my wife wears the black one as a daily beater at the moment, if you need a size comparison I could take a pic alongside my Planet Ocean or Speedy Pro?
I am going to buy another soon !

Are you serious? A well made, mass produced £200 watch is anything but pretentious.......Edited by Dominic H on Wednesday 2nd September 07:32
Yep, there's a lot of pretentious guff spouted on watch forums.

Hey, if you like it go for it. I've always liked the F1 myself but was put off because those that I'd seen that were more than a couple of years old didn't seem to have stood the test of time too well. The plastic bezel marks very easily.
With regard to size, they're about 38mm and unless you've got the wrists of a gorilla it should be fine. I usually wear a 40mm watch and switched to a cheap 38mm for Reading festival this weekend. It looked small for about 5 minutes and then after that felt very natural.

I bought the orange faced F1 for something a little different. Really like it - nice solid watch. I payed around 750 for it new what are they going for 2nd hand?
Pretty much anywhere from £100 up on ebay. I'll be spending more than that though to get a nice one. Good to hear they are decent watches. I'm not a true watch enthusiast but have always wanted a Tag Heuer. I like the Tag link to motorsport also.
Thanks for the advice. Will let you know when I get one. Could be a while yet as I have much less interesting things to buy first.
I'm not sure I'd go for the midsize - all the ones I've looked at looked too small, and I have twigs for wrists.
I found a brand new F1 fullsize with a black face on eBay at £400 buy it now - sent him an offer of £250 and he took it. I really like it, it's hard wearing and looks nice without being 'bling'.
