How can they be copies? Shirly if TAG bought Heuer then then they own the company that designed the watches in the first place and they are just continuing to make watches.
"Continuing to make watches" would require continuity of manufacture - that's not happened. Think Fiat 500

Its like saying when TVR was sold to the Russian guy all the TVR's sold from then on were copies.
Not quite, it's like saying if TVR started making the Griffith again but used the AJP engine it would be a 'copy' of the original. I can see what you mean if TAG take one of the old designs and re-release it. But if they make a similar watch, then its not a copy if there is no original.

Perhaps ‘copy’ was the wrong word, homage to, reproduction of, or inspired by might be better phrases, but this isn’t helping the OP part with his hard earned.
I’d always go for the pre-owned, 50’s/60’s Heuer mainly because they are usually cheaper, hold their value very well and have a bit of ‘history’ to them, spotted a Silverstone for sale recently that had been worn while racing at Le Mans many years ago, and I guess I like the thrill of the chase, although with the likes of Heuerboy and co if you just want to swipe plastic it’s not that hard to get a Heuer on your wrist but it’s still more work than popping into your local Ernest Johns and buying something slightly more mass produced how ever nice they look, and they do look nice, I wouldn’t mind adding one of the early TAG Heuer Monacos to the collection, the 1st re-issues though, the one without TAG on the dial.

st, the watch forum is EXACTLY like the car forum
I'm going to go for a wander at Bluewater next week one evening to try and see the particular Tag that I like - to see it in person (the new version I linked to above). Then, having seen that, I'm going to keep my eye on HeuerBoy for a couple of months to see what he gets in as I do like the idea of a vintage one, but I can't imagine they're as accessible, or available, as a modern Carrera that I can buy pretty much from the highstreet.
