Hi there watch experts. I've seen a c. 1940s 'driver's watch' for sale - i.e curved back to be worn on the side of the wrist and 12 o clock where 3 would usually be and so on so that you can tell the time wihtout taking your hand off the wheel of your Lancia.....

It's badged 'Hermes Grand Prix' on the face. It's a lovely looking thing but I believe that Hermes sold watches made by others in this period and wondered whether anyone has experience of the movement - good, bad or indifferent.

Any advice gratefully received smile

nope - unfortunately not and I can't find any sensible online info/images which makes me think it might be quite rare....

I'm interested in Hermes general reputation for quality (etc.) or otherwise to establish whether the wathc has anything other than curiosity value

That struck a chord and now I've realised that my Dad had a watch with the face set up like that back in the 50s. I've no idea what make though and he died long back so a mystery. A lovely looking thing you have there; hope it runs well and gives you lots of pleasure.
