It's my GF's 35th birthday soon. I would appreciate any advice regarding a nice watch around £500. Something oldish, art deco style would be great.

Any recommendations would be welcomed.

What about

Gucci 3900L Ladies SS

"Steel ladies quartz bracelet watch with diamond set case in superb condition."

OK, it's quartz so the watch geeks won't sleep with you but diamonds work better with girls than automatic movements.

I bought my wife a Longines last year. It was a new watch, but one of their Heritage collection. As it is the same size as men's watches were in period, it doesn't swamp her (tiny) wrist. Check them out - I think that they've got some really beautiful and well made watches, and most of them are well under £500.

Not really deco in style, but super elegant. I like the look of a man's watch on a girl's wrist too.

Cartier Tank would be the perfect thing, but that's around 4 times your budget.

A '30's style Stowa Antea? (new) - mind you, you may have to wait a month or two unless you pick up a used one.

Thanks for the advice folks, that Gucci looks nice. Will check out the Longines and take a look at Stowa.
