I quite like the Traser stuff although I doubt its up to the standard of a Sinn.

As said - boggo G-Shock is the way to go.

Guess what I wore when I was in the Army..?
Oooh, ooh, I know!

Am I right? Digital for accuracy.
Yes - damn!

hehe
That t-shirt really doesn't go with your watch, you know.

I have the MTM Blackhawk/Ballistic Velcro version.

No dealers in FL. In fact, I believe it is website only for non military.

Any other questions?
We've both been on this site since 2002, and if I see a post made by you Ernest - my immediate mental image is of the picture you have posted on your profile with the Lotus, your lovely wife and wearing a dinner jacket.

I simply can't imagine you wearing such a watch.

hehe

Regarding what 'real special forces types' wear - my girlfriend's brother in law is in the SAS, and does 'real special forces things'. So I will ask him next time he's back from wherever it is I'm not allowed to say. Certainly though I've never noticed any 'interesting' horological frippery on his wrists, and being a watch fool I *notice* these things... wink
That is my "change the oil" "other potentially nasty duties" and "shooting range" watch. When I need a timepiece but don't want to potentially muck up the Submariner (my daily wear watch) or my Daytona (my "dress" watch)

SO... fear not hehe

(Oh - and the watch was recommended by my brother in law - ex Navy SEAL medic and then Force Recon medic)

Edited because I mucked up the speeling of "muck"

That says SO much about Navy SEALs that they need a watch that actually says: 'Special Ops' on it, just to remind them and their captors when they're taken hostage.

If you think, or if there are actually, any Special Ops out there who wear a watch that says 'Special Ops' on the face, then there's something very wrong. Maybe SEALs get a special version that doesn't say Special Ops, just to be crafty, eh..??!!! rofl

Maybe, just maybe, its a double bluff. If they get captured, the Bad guys wouldnt think anyone would be stupid enough to be Special Forces and wears a watch that announces it to the world.

I'm sure the ones MTM make for the military don't say "Special Ops".

Thank gawd for that then, the 'enemy' will never see through that clever smokescreen... rofl

The SAS st in plastic bags and wear G-shocks, but the SEALS make sure their gear doesn't say 'Special Ops'.

When I see plain-clothed US govt security guys down here in this neck of Africa, they stand out like sore pricks. They're trying so hard to blend-in that they shine like beacons of non-blend-in-ness. They must have gone to the US govt supply base for novelty outfits.

I once played golf with one of these chaps, he sported a baseball cap emblazoned with "US Secret Service" and a big bald eagle crest throughout all 19 holes.

Well of course he only had a Chapman, and that was after he tasted mine to make sure there was no booze in it. Let me keep the hat afterwards too...

Nice! I'd like one of those too. We had a young American kid down here used to run about telling everyone his Dad was CIA or somesuch. Sure Daddy would have been happy. Anyhoo, kid starts messing with local gangsters Russian g/f and had to be 'exported' sharpish. Silly twunt!

US Secret Service is an offshoot of the Treasury department. They are responsible for Counterfeiting Investigations, Data Hacking investigations and Presidential Security. The joke is that they are neither Secret nor a Service.

Most CIA employees are not spies (they are analysts)

A lot of the "US govt security guys" are contractors. They will never blend in.

The guys that do blend in - you don't see and are usually part of a special task force (TF 145 for example) that even include British SOF. Usually they are DEVGRU, 1st SFOD-D or AFSOC (or any combination thereof)

Sorry, I was thinking the MTM. Didn't realise they were so expensive (was only looking at the $500 one) as posted above.

Interesting stuff indeed!

I think many of them here are out of their comport zones as they're not allowed to carry personal firearms.

We, as a company use a lot of 'security consultants' and hire ex-British army, South African and French Foreign Legionnaires, but we don't tend to hire US ex-servicemen.

That'll be me then (ex-FFL) - as long as you haven't got Lord Alfie Rake or Paranoid LLoyd you should be alright...

US guys never seem to get a foothold in Africa. No idea why.

jshell - You in N or S Africa as a matter of interest?

Heh! Been a while since I dealt with them, I left all the madness in the South of the country and offshore a couple of years back. Still see them passing through - I'm in Lagos, Nigeria.

The FFL guys provided security at one (probably many) of the camps in Onne Port near Port Harcourt. Very, very nice chaps, very professional and totally unphased even when the locals were running around trying to beat each other to a bloody pulp! The SA guys were great too, though mostly racist like I've never seen before - a product of their experiences in SA tbh. Brits, again nice, couple of them a bit strung out after Iraq, but professional. None of them wanted to work with the US guys for various reasons best not to go into.
