Looking to buy the youngest a semi decent watch for his up and coming 21st. I've done the rounds of the big name high street jewellers to check what he actually likes in the flesh/on the wrist and despite me trying to steer him towards a Omega speedy or PO hehe he has opted for a TAG Carrera CV2010 BA0794 (metal bracelet). Whilst out I tried the usual suspects for discounts and I was gob smacked out how slow some are at getting anywhere close to sealing a deal, RRP -10% was the best I could get and even that was hard work. Now I know I deal with Arabs on a regular basis so perhaps a little of the I want something for nothing haggling comes out in me, but mentally I suspect there is a lot more to be had, even the on-line dealers are offering around 25%.
So my question to the PH community is - where's the best place to spend my money on this watch, personal recommendations appreciated.

Tag have just opened a shop at York designer outlet, might be worth a look if you are around that area. They seem to have some good discounts.

ETA sorry probably not much use, as just had a look at your profile and it says South.

Thanks for all the replies and mail so far, you restore my faith in business. I'll wait till I get all the details in, which will be tomorrow night, lets those that need to speak during office hours to get back to me before choosing where to go.

Hi, appologies for jumping in on the thread but I'm also looking to get a Carrera soon (CV2010.FC6205) and any advice on the best place to buy would be much appreciated (list price seems to be £1995 and have been offered 10% off that).

Thanks,
Mike.

DominicH comes highly recommended, and I'd stand by that. Supplied me a longines hyrdoconquest a couple weeks ago & very happy I was with the price & first class dealings throughout.

Send him a PM.

I would be surprised if he hasnt already read this and sent them an email first. I was aking similar questions a couple of weeks ago and got home to find an email waiting for me.
DominicH - If you read this, I will be calling, just too busy at the mo.

FYI - Worth looking round in the High St Goldsmith type shops, last year I got mine for £1250 as it was a metal braclet for £1795 so already under RRP, with a further £500 off in the sale! Luckily the one they tried to give me from the window had damage (weirdly a chip in the glass) so I also got sent a brand new one from Tag. I didn't mind waiting the 2 weeks for a mint one!

Put it on the leather strap for the summer, defo need to get it back on the bracelet now I have seen the images in Google! ;P

I got mine from Goldsmiths too. Don't know if they still do the Tesco Clubcard deal but I got £400 off using £100 of Clubcard vouchers.

might not be of any help but thought it was worth posting

The watches can be had for about £1250 from the US against a UK RRP of £1995 if you want to go that route, but it may be subject to VAT and customs etc.
I'm quite happy to pay a little more to get a UK AD sourced one and am just going through a re quote with most who have mailed me to get the 'best price' hopefully today.

PS I can't pick up my home mail at work so will have to wait to this evening again to reply if you have mailed me.

This is a good article summing up the new TAG Heuer 1887 Calibre / alleged Seiko clone storm that's been brewing this week.

http://www.calibre11.com/1887-calibre/

This is the original WUS thread :

http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?p=2454...

'J.C. Babin CEO of TAG Heuer' supposedly wades in on page two. I was having a perv at a Carrera today (I work in an airport, and walk past lots of watches all day) they are nice.
