Decided it's time for a new watch.

[shameless plug]My Hercules is for sale here - http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1397877.htm [/shameless plug]

Considering these:

My budget is £2-3k.

Any other suggestions?

I'd personally go for the Planet Ocean, but then again I'm bias smile If you do opt for the PO, be sure to buy it with the stainless steel bracelet. It is cheaper to buy the watch on the bracelet and purchase the leather/rubber strap afterwards, rather than visa-versa ...

I know what you mean about the DC - I've owned a couple of Seamaster pros and loved them. I want to go back to a simpler looking watch than my current Brietling, want good luminosity, clear hands and hour amrkers.

I know the Diver Chrono is a bit "busier" but I tried one when I got my Hercules and it really is a lovely thing.

Lefty,

I've just my Speedie and replaced with a very nice Sinn 144 GMT. I was really surprised at the quality of the Sinn and am delighted with it. They're certainly worth a look. I have a Sub LV too which is nice but I feel its a totally different watch to anything else I have.

If it were my money and going with the list you've put up the the PO with orange markers wins for me. I have a friend who had one and i'm gutted he sold without telling me first!

As you're local to me i'd always be happy for a chat about watches if you fancied?

Cheers

James

The Sub is a classic and I think looks timeless (plus will always resell quite easily for not a big drop in price - they are bringing our a newer, ceramic bezel & better bracelet version soon if this is interesting to you. If not, a current or even vintage one will see you well).

Left field if you're after a go-anywhere big chrono I'd say have a look at the Sinn U1000, stacks of (if not all of) Sinn tech - incl. hardened case and body made from submarine steel, extreme temp capability, dehumidifying capsules, argon fill, 1000m etc, plus the pushers (oversized for gloves) can be used at depth. You won't find it on many wrists either. The legibility is great with the subdued constant seconds and a 60min subdial instead of the less intuitive 30min scale. Also available with combination of either sub-steel bezel and case, black bezel/steel case or black bezel and black case.

That Sinn is very nice indeed. Idea on price?

Not sure a brand new Sub will be in my price range, it is a handsome bugger of a thing - a real icon.

Funny you should say that, there's a thread in the Scotland forum about a local christmas beer night before Christmas... Enthusiasm for it hasn't been overwhelming though!

The Sinn is towards the top end of your price range, £2,945 from http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/sinn_u_series.htm although Jura do them too...
