Hello my names Mark and in August I turn the big 5 0 so want a watch, ahhhh but which one, that is the question.
The wife is treating me but what to get, doesn't have to be new either. Oh yeah a cronograph is a must, but would make an exeption for something weird but wonderful.

I fancy a Bell and Ross but bit pricey so second hand me thinks (are they any good?)

A Sinn, but again pricey

A vintage Seiko perhaps

An Omega is classy though a little boring and breitlings look a little ugly

Any good trustworthy second hand sites I know about chronomaster but the ones i like are usually sold!

Any others? Over to you guys!

Thanks for your input

Mark

Do you want a quartz or an Automatic.
There are a number of nice Oris watches at you price point (I've just bought an Oris Divers watch and I'm very happy with it). I also looked at the Sinn U1 and Sinn flieger.
Since you want a Chrono, the Sinn Sport Chronograph 144 St Sa SN-010 looks good for £1000 at jurawatches. Also the Flieger Chrono 103st and the 256 and 356 models are other options.

^^^ has anyone got one or handled one? I like the look of them (big nod to IWC aside) but wonder about quality etc.

The watch pictured was mine once upon a time. The quality of Steinhart watches IMHO is top notch (I've owned numerous - currenty wearing a Ocean 1 Vintage Red), their customer service is excellent in my experience, but just don't take my word for it -

Hmmmm food for thought already, like the look of the Steinhart and will look further at the Sinns. Thanks Again Chaps!

Any other suggestions not bothered about quartz or auto. Would prefer Quarz so you can take off and it will still work should you decide to wear another. However finding one thats a chrono takes some doing with the exeption of a very few Brietlings nothing much else.... unless you know different!!!

Thanks Again

Fortis, Sinn, second hand Tudor (just flipped a Hydronaut for £750 which is what I paid for in new), Omega, Glycine etc

For this budget I would look at the websites for Chronomaster and Jura.

Had a better look at the Steinhart site yesterday. The motorsport one in Gulf colours looked amazing, might drop them a line and just see if thay dont still have one kicking about in a drawer somewhere they would like to part with. Failing that I prefer the leather strap one too.

Still keeping an open mind though.

Once again a big big thankyou for all your replys.

Hey Poosha, that Porsche Design one is bloody lovely and what a bargain. Do you know if these are still made by Eterna? This gets in my top 5 along with the Steinhart the Sinn and the gorgeous Stowa (or is that a little plain...just cant decide!)still like Omega's (second hand) and a Bell and Ross just to be different!

Cheers Mark

Does it look plain from this angle?

This back and the blue hands mean it's far from plain.

Yes there are still made by them - Porsche Design bought Eterna a few years ago.
