I've got a steel black face Daytona that I have had for ten years....I bought the IWC Power Reserve automatic as a 40th birthday present to myself a couple of years ago. They are both lovely watches and I tend to wear them for a couple of weeks at a time each rather than keeping one for special occasions.

I really liked this version of the IWC but it's over £10k as it's white gold

Nah, just cannot 'get' with Brietling, Ebel or Tag... Contentious, I know, but just not Special enough!
This is no ordinary Brietling, it is the Chronomat B01, the first Brietling with an in-house movement.
First of the current incarnation of the company, perhaps. The original Breitling company made in-house movements - they were part of the group that produced the first automatic chronograph movement, in collaboration with Heuer, Hamilton and Dubois Depraz.

Its not really very pretty is it that Breitling ...
I like the face, but not the bezel.

I don't 'get' IWC; they look like kiddies Timex watches.

An IWC Aquatimer GST next to a Rolex SD, what's not to like and what one looks like a timex

Very probably I'd try to source a Radiomir Black Seal. One of my favourites.

Should be able to do a second-hand Breguet Marine Big Date for that sort of lolly.

I have one of the original 2000 made in late 69/1970 ...its my fave watch, and still keeps near perfect time 40 years later ....the new model is £7K though...im sure it wasnt that much in 1970 !

re-issue of the original 1969 model:

thats the re-issue, mine is similar but without the extra text and a bit older looking, date at 4 instead of 6 ...plexiglass rather than sapphire etc ...I will take some pics when I get chance and host them somewhere

thanks - I like it, it was born the same year as myself, and (arguably) the first and best auto chrono movement ...nice n simple, and discreet

...no need to wait for a lottery win though - if you can find one of the originals, they usually change hands for £2 to £2.5K depending on condition ...of course, its just finding one of the 2000 or so, 40 years later, thats still in good nick !

yes, the one posted is a "Vintage" - a new model, styled to look older..they do it in black PVD, gold and steel....

the "Striking 10" (what I posted a link to) is near as dammit a re-issue of the original 1969 "el primero" or "the first" ...well they were announced late 1969...likely 1970 before mass availability....

I must admit the "Striking 10" is on my list...maybe in 10 years when depreciation has done its thing ...the only thing I dont like about it though is actualy the "Striking 10" text ....it dosent need it IMO...

I know!

I am/was tempted by the Vintage by would actually prefer one of the originals like you have.

I prefer the round case Striking 10 to the Vintage ...

I saw a 1969 model at Watches of Distinction a couple of weeks back for £2750, but Ive just checked to give you a link, but its gone already frown
