I have a CW peregrine (something like that). Very impressed with quality and customer service. Had it for about a year - had one problem with strap - sent to CW who replaced it and had it back to me with a week or so. Ultimately I think the test will be whether or not the movement lasts, but so far very impressed

Ive got a couple of CWs myself and bought one for the better half earlier in the year. The strap had a minor fault and resulted in it coming occasionally loose and then falling from her wrist and then being kicked across the floor whilst leaving a theatre. As a result it ended up with quite a few scratches. Contacted them via email they asked for me to return at their expense emailled when it arrived with them and again as soon as it had been inspected and then went on to replace with a brand new watch. Top customer service from CW. My other have kept perfect time and a couple of people who have looked at mine went on to buy one. hth.
Wow. That is good service. They coulda said you were trying to pull a fast one after doing something stupid. LordGrover said:

was tempted by a C70 Brooklands, as its 250 notes sans VAT, then another 25 off of that, 225 seems a bit better than 300, I then noticed its a quartz..Not so keen now.
In our family we have 4 CW watches, I have two chronographs a C7 and A C4 wife and daughter have a W6 each. I had the clip on my first watch open when I flexed my wrist. As iwas going through Maidenhead I called into his workshop. What a joy to meet and quickly put the strap right.
I would recommend him and my next purchase will be a C40 speedhawk.

I've got to say having bought a couple of CWs and understanding their business model I would find it really hard to walk into a jewellers and buy a Tag or a Breitling for 5x or 10x as much knowing the price difference is purely about jeweller's mark up and marketing. I see watches in the shop windows with obviously the same movement as mine, and a case that looks no better, but at several multiples of the price I've paid. I guess the only problem is if you're buying as a status symbol, in which case the label matters, but in the circles I move no-one notices the watch I wear, and to watch enthusiasts I think a CW is as cool as anything else.
I've got a Speedhawk. Had it since Feb this year as a 30th birthday pressie. It's been fantastic and had the most wrist time since then.
I had a little issue with the strap to start with but I resettled the pins and it's been trouble free since.
I wanted it for the movement and it's great. Where else can you get a Valjoux 7750 for sub £500?

In what way are they not as good as the more big name brands, if you see what I mean? What bits do they compromise on?
I swear there's a whole thread dedicated to them. I think the search function isn't working properly. In desperation, you could go through the watch forum as far as it goes.As for quality, the movements are bought-in which cuts down on cost (reliable ETA movements). The watches (or at least the movements) are very likely assembled in China which also cuts down on cost - not necessarily a bad thing as they've clearly established a good relationship with whoever their supplier is. You are comparing a £300 watch with a £1500 watch, though, aren't you?
Comparing it to my PO, the only real points of contention are the clasp (a little bit cheap, as deployants go) and the crystal; the domed sapphire crystal on the PO really does look the mutt's, compared to the flat mineral glass of the C8.
I've never handled a CW watch on a bracelet, so cannot compare the extremely high-quality Omega bracelet and clasp to anything CWesque.
Summer sale starts tomorrow - up to 50% off apparently. I will be ordering a little something for myself
