I'm looking to get my Alfa painted at the start of next year.

I'm trying to find a body shop in or near to Hertfordshire to carry out the work. The car is white so nothing fancy.

I've been to a couple locally recommended by a mate, but they either didn't bother getting back to me, took forever to give me a budget figure, or gave me a bad feeling (wanted to meet in a supermarket car park)

The car will need a bit of prep due to a botched paint job a few years ago (that will need to come off)

Ideally someone will be able to recommended a decent shop that aren't afraid of older cars.

It might be worth your while asking in the classics section as well as here - more resprays and general bodywork going on in there.

I'm in south herts.

I used CCR coachworks in biggleswade on my mitsubishi, excellent work for the price.

Currently got my integra in for a full respray at a place in kings langley, was a decent price, so we will see how that turns out. They do a lot of classics.

Thanks for the info. I will give them a call.

Here are a couple of recent pics to give an idea of the job.

Finishline in Graveley, near Stevenage, are very good. My pride and joy is there right now. Give Chris a call, really nice and enthusiastic guy.

My job must be far more straightforward because I'm paying a fraction of that. They're certainly not the cheapest out there but I've known Chris a long time and trust him with my cars. Fact is, a high quality full respray is going to dent the bank balance.

To be honest I'd budgeted somewhere between £3-4K. It's not a colour change, but there are are few bodywork bits to be sorted. Nothing too drastic though. Should be straight forward for the right shop.

Had a few issues at home since the OP (burst water pipe! D'oh) but will definitely follow up on the leads given.

Thanks

Rob

I'd also recommend Finishline. There are a lot of very good cars go through there.
£5k as mentioned above is about right for a quality job. I was also quoted similar by Custom Exotics in Harlow. You get what you pay for when it comes to a good paint finish...
Tha fact that they are both very busy says it all really.

I'd be making sure you are getting a very thorough respray for that kind of price (£5k ish region) personally.

Another I forgot to mention is https://www.atthepaintshop.com/ in Ware - they do a lot of older vehicles.
Unfortunately I didn't get to use any of my recommendations this year as I blew the LS3 up about 2 weeks before it was due to go to Finishline. Will get through the winter then try again...
