Further to this thread : http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&amp...

Jamie (Bedford Rascal) has loan of an Elise for a few days on the weekend of 15/16th September, would anyone be interested in a nice run out in the North Beds Countryside on Sunday evening if the weather's good?

Will have to check - and it will have been a long drive down from 'up north' earlier that day, but we may be up for it smile

Number 1 thing to do is decide WHERE we're going to have this run. Any preference for places? I know Bedford and the surrounds have some good roads that I haven't explored yet.

I will confer with Missdiane coz she used to live around that way and we've had some nice drives out there.

B645 around kimbolton is fantastic (although not sure what they would be like on a sunday evening), and there are a couple of good roads around bedford autodrome too that me and Di have hooned on

B660 from north of Bedford up to Kimbolton is a good one.

That is a good road; from Newport Pagnell up to Bedford.

A circular route I used to do on the bike was up that road to Northampton, over to Rushden and pick up the B645 that Matt mentioned and then south on the B660 back to Bedford.

you could probably head though harold and podington to hit the A6 before heading off to kimboloton if you wanted to stay off the majorish road

Keep away from the A509 at Wellingborough Sunday evening if you go that way, Santa pod will be tipping out early evening.

This side of the A1 is good - If it's not too far Sandy (cos it's easy for us and we can have a cup of tea to start (and we make it)) back roads to Cottered then on to the M11. We can go North, then double back to just above or below the A14. From there people can get back to their homes pretty easy???

Harold to Pod road is getting very worn now, if they have not resurfaced it, I would not recommend it, shame though as its a lovely road

Bedford to Sandy past Chicksands is a lovely route too, as is Maulden/Clophill/Ampthill road, my personal faves are over Oakley, rural Kempston, Bromham, Pavenham, Carlton etc, thats because I know them very well and feel confident round that way, done the journey often enough biggrin

I might be up for a little run time permitting, good shakedown of the trackcar, it's not been used in anger for a while!
