I tried but completely failed to explain the sound of Kevin's car pulling away to the missus when I got home.

Doh! Only just seen this, otherwise I'd have come along.

If you head over to the London forum there's a meet in the Enfield area being organised for early September which may be of interest. We've had a decent turn out and some very interesting machinery at the last couple (several TVRs, numerous Nobles, a Ford GT, a De Tomaso, Eleanor the Mustang and er, a 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa hire car )
