Watch it in Hertford Heath as it drop to 30 coming from Hertford. There is a scamera van there occassionally.
Nah, I've vowed never to bother with the Hertford Heath road again. Once was boredom enough.

On a random note, I did discover a fun road the other week. Heading off the B1004, about half way between Much Hadham and Bishops Stortford 'the old airfield road'.
Chris, I assume you mean the road that heads down towards Sawbridgeworth, past where RAF Sawbridgeworth used to be? Indeed it is fun, especially in the Gallardo that's sitting on my drive right now!

You do need to be careful though - poor chap killed earlier this year when he spun into one of the roadside pill-boxes... frown

Shame you've publicised this though, that road is very quiet and so close to home I often use it for some 'spirited progress' safe in the knowledge it will be usually free of traffic wink

How's the Caterham btw? Mate just round the corner just bought an '07 Roadsport (silver with red nose)and we're often out and about - wave if you see us!

Apologies for going off topic!
I think so. Basically I took the car out last Sunday (it's going very well BTW, barring a starter motor issue) and I bumped into another Seven owner. Never met the guy before but tagged along for a rather spirited drive and then got chatting when we stopped (in Much Hadham). The guy was apparently local and the car was (partly?) red - might even have been your mate?

I'd like to think PH was a reasonably select and discrete audience, so hope the road won't be gridlocked next time you head down! For my part I have to be fairly careful down there anyway as I can't see over the banks in most places. By the way, what's the situation with the airfield? Does it still exist? Is any of it, er, accesible? whistle
Haha, small world, I do think indeed that was John - was it an 07 plate? He's on holiday right now so haven't spoken with him since Sunday. Where abouts did you stop? Next time you're passing through on a hoon, let me know and the three of us can meet for a quick blat then pint?

Unfortunately the airfield is out of bounds for cars, as is the old RAF Hunsdon base, a couple of miles towards Hunsdon/Widford.
Can't remember. He said it was a 1600 K-Seires he'd built 'a few years ago' but looked quite new - think he lived off towards Bishops Stortford. The pub was on the left as you go through Much Hadham heading towards Ware, but I can't remember the name. Quite a small car park at the front, but it was just the first one I spotted to say hello.

Heading through quite regularly so I'll drop you a line at some point. Do keep an eye open for a Zed when I go past, but mostly the village seems to be full of Porsches!

Well that's not John then - but we do get a few through the village.

We're on the main road on the left if you come from BS direction, about 100 yeards before the village shop. You wouldn't see our cars as we have high hedges on either side.

And yes, I have the only Zed in the village. There are at least 10 times more Ferraris, probs 30 x more Porsches, and there is at least 3 x more Lambos in the village. Best car however is an immaculate '68 Mustang. I am quite clearly the poor relation here!

If you are out and about in the next couple of weeks, let us know and we'll join you.

Will do. If nothing else there's a distinct possibility we'll head out that way after the North London meet on September 13th. Suspect I'll be out before then though - I pretty much always head up to the Hertford type area and then either go left (Welwyn and beyond) or right towards your neck of the woods. smile

Lucky bugger! Tell your mate that if ever he's in need of another friend then I'll be more than happy to stand in!

Too right, lucky is the word!

He's just ordered a DBS and Vantage Cabrio to sit alongside the Lambo and AMG Mercs and Rangie....

...was that you on Saturday morning? smile

Would have given you a shout, but it was a spur of the moment thing. My girlfriend's brother is staying with us at the moment and wanted a ride in the car so we headed out and ended up on the '1004 where we passed a Zed going in the opposite direction.

Yeah, probably, I did see a blue? Caterham coming the other way, but it was behind another car so didn't get the chance to wave - does that sound right?

And the Gallardo has a flattie! frown have to replace both back tyres at £308/each. Bummer!

What, this one?

smile

Yep, that'd be me. I was stuck behind one of the many Sunday drivers who'd bumbled out 24 hours early - never seen that area so busy! I think my girlfriend's brother (who'd never been in anything faster than his mk2 Golf before) was suitably impressed with the Seven once we found a clear stretch of road - he kept muttering something about having to save up for one after we got back.

Yup, that's the one, and bloody georgeous it is too! Looks like a lot of fun

Unfortunately we do seem to have attracted a lot of tourists over this weekend - the village was very busy on both Saturday and Sunday - typically with old folk driving Almeras frown

I would have had some fun in the Gallardo, but it's stuck on the drive with a flattie until Friday (you would not believe how difficult it is to locate tyres for that car!)....

Thanks, it's certainly a lot of fun, but even the previous owner in his sales pitch described it as a 50ft car - looks great from 50 feet! It bears a few battle scars close-up from its racing days. It's pretty much mint mechanically though and it goes well.

So this Gallardo... don't suppose you've got room for a passenger? biggrin
