Competition: We've got 5 pairs of tickets for the greatest air show on, er, earth...
PistonHeads isn't always about cars, we like bikes, trucks, boats and aircraft too. In fact, if it has an engine of any type we're probably going to like it, especially if it's a fast and loud one. With this in mind we've been on the phone to the organisers of the Royal International Air Tattoo, and they've kindly offered five pairs of tickets as a prize giveaway.
The aviation event of the year, staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, returns to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire for 2011. It promises to be the summer's biggest birthday bash (they tell us!) as they're celebrating the 40th Anniversary of world's greatest air show taking place on July 16-17.
The Royal Air Force's legendary Red Arrows head a list of spectacular aerobatic display teams. Their displays need no introduction and at this year's Air Tattoo they will be joined by hundreds more exciting and colourful aircraft including fast jets, giant transporters, classic warbirds and helicopters in a thrilling flying and static display.
The showground also features an exciting range of interactive activities suitable for all ages including the Ford Liveshow, the Top Gear Experience simulator, motorcycle stunt teams, flight simulators, freestyle mountain bike display teams, children's quad bikes and the world land speed record challenging Bloodhound SSC jet-propelled car (model!).
To win a pair of tickets, simply email competitions@pistonheads.com with 'Air Tattoo' in the subject line, including your name and mobile number as part of the email. We will pick five winners at random from our tin 'Dad's Army' hat on Thursday 2nd June, and all winners will be notified by lunchtime on that day.
If you don't win our free tickets, you can still purchase tickets for the Air Tattoo priced at £39.00 - just call the Ticketline on 0800 107 1940 or visit www.airtattoo.com. Please note that tickets must be bought in advance and adult-accompanied under 16's get in free. Parking is included, too.
As for the Vulcan (was worth waiting for even though it then took me 90 mins to get out of the car park )
