RE: See The 2011 Royal Air Tattoo For Free
Discussion
I have been fortunate enough to have attended this event on several occasions as a guest of BAE, their hospitality was fantastic. Could not frequent last year as this clashed with another venue, but we will be there this year on the Sunday. Good Luck to all those that have entered, you will not be disappointed. (assuming the weather being decent)
Wow! If I didn't live on the other planet I would so be going for / to this! More variety of aircraft than here in Aus, and with weather unlikely to induce the second-degree burns (am not kidding) I got from not wearing sunscreen at Avalon this year - 1 day before my RAN interview.
Would love to go to the Northern hemisphere airshows; RIAT, MAKS, Farnborough and Paris
Ali.

Actually this link is closer to cars then you think, as my mate Jules (yes a girl!) is the RAF Hawk display pilot for 2011 so will be there to see her. The link is that she came 2nd in that TV show whereby they were looking for women to go racing in the RX8 race series, she came 2nd or 3rd in the overall championship
I think I saw her fly last month at RAF Valley. Very good.Entered
Sorry, but I read that in a completely different way that I expect it was meant.
"I thought she was really good, an entered!"
Will be at RIAT this year.
Missed it the past couple of years due to other commitments but it's a great day out.
Find a spot on the grass, lather up with factor 0.5 suntan lotion, get the beer within arms reach, camera on the other side, within wandering distance of the loo and burger van - what a way to spend a day

Looks like a good day out.
But if I provide my mobile number, aren't Haymarket going to spam me with offers of mag' subscriptions etc?
Haymarket got my number from elsewhere a couple of years ago and they kept calling even after I had asked them to stop. It became a real PITA! Email spam is bad enough but at least I can unsubscribe or hit the "mark as spam" key quickly.

PH doesn't usually collect data, and IF we do we'll tell you very clearly. The mobile number will be used to call you if you win, but if you'd rather we contacted you via email that's fine
It's a great show and there is too much to see in one day. We normally watch all the air show stuff one day and walk around the ground stuff the other. Last year was the anniversary of the Battle of Britain and it was really special. Something like 13 spitfires, hurricanes, ME109 plus the Lancaster all starting up and displaying together.
It is not a good as it was a few years ago now all the Easter Bloc no longer come but it's still well worth the money especially as kids are free. If the Frecce Tricolori turn up it's extra special.
A word of warning though. Getting over 200,000 people in and out down two country lanes takes time. We queued for nearly 2 hours one year (from the M40) and so last year we camped and went in on bikes. Worked a treat. You have to get there very early to miss the queues. Also as it's a very security sensitive event normally with a big USAF presence, it does take time to get in through security.
Same weekend as Cholmondley Pageant of Power so we'll not be going this year....unless I win. ;-).

BTW, why is it called the Royal Air Tattoo? When I saw the title I thought we were being invited to see some ink that Garlick had had done!
If they'll be flying a Lancaster it'd be worth a visit, but I'm an ocean away and can't afford plane tickets.
I'll be there showing off the new spiders web design on my elbows.....If they'll be flying a Lancaster it'd be worth a visit, but I'm an ocean away and can't afford plane tickets.
