Am I right in thinking that we will be able to see (if the cloud cover allows it) a nice lunar eclipse just after 8pm on Wednesday?

Sorry if this is a repost. smile

Yep, it's a central eclipse too which are more rare.

The further south you are the better you'll see it as it'll be rising eclipsed. Up north where the moon rise is later, we'll miss a lot of it. Further north up into the top of Scotland they won't see it.

Unfortunately, it's cloudy over most of the UK today. A little more info:

The eclipse will begin at 6.24pm (BST), but will be not be visible from the UK until sunset at roughly 9.13pm when the eclipse is predicted to reach its darkest phase or ‘totality’.

Totality is the time when Earth's shadow completely covers the moon, which is expected to end at 10.03pm.

The moon is set to rise whilst in eclipse across Europe, Middle East, Africa, southern Asia and Australia turning from grey to an extraordinary blood-red.
