I am not sure I would say its useful for any of the missions he mentions other than fast transport to and from an oil rig, or civilian point to point flights.

Military transport - no, propellers get in the way when the troops get out
Search and rescue - not sure I would fancy dangling below that on a winch with the props flying around my head...

Is it just a bodge? Or is it a serious proposition?

Looks fantastic in the fast climb though!

Just over three and a half hours late. Better than seventy years though.
