Where I am moored I have 240v power.

Ideal for power tools, extension leads etc etc

I was wondering if there is such a adapter to plug my boat shore power lead into it?

The boat power/ shore power lead is the standard type.

Will I need a transformer? Or is there a simple adapter?

Hard to say without knowing what plug you have and what the socket is.

They are usually standard and weather proof and one should just slot into the other.

If you want an adaptor with a standard mains plug an the circular socket for the boat lead, then yes you can get them as we have one aboard.

I would suggest looking in your local camping supplies shop as it is likely to be a third the cost than at a chandlers.

It's nothing special, just a short piece of cable with the connectors on each end

Not sure what you are trying to achieve Jon.

The shore power should be a standard european three pin socket usually Blue indicating 240v into a pole with rcd protection. From there you would have a lead terminating with a something like a twist lock marinco 240 boat socket, yellow, which plugs into your boat at a marinco plug, yellow or stainless.

The boat though should be wired from there to it's own rcd system and you should take care to keep your earths and dc neutrals isolated. Be aware that any leakage will cause problems with your anodic protection and if you leave the boat plugged in you can end up with your anodes doing the work for everything around you.

ok I have not explained myself properly, so apologies as I can picture it fine from where i am sat smile

I have the circular blue 3 pin plug and have used it sucessfully when mooring in Chatham Marina, plug and play, all my 240v sockets work on board and batteries charge and fridge can work of the mains... jobs a goodun smile

Trouble is my mooring.... is 240v, 3 pin house plug only (as not supposed to be used for powering boats) .... I figured for a couple of hours a week it wouldn't hurt when down there doing work to run the boat off of the mooring mains, charge the batteries, run the fridge etc

So wanted a 3 pin houseplug that had a female 3 pin boat plug on the end to get some sneaky power hehe obviosly for my power tools only whistle

That is what I was referring to, so they are definitely available. Ours came from the local camping shop, so it might be worth trying there.

Edit - In fact, here is one: http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/5178/hook-up-...

Ah right - you want advice on how to steal electricity.

Get a stanley knife and cut the live cable while you're still wearing the wet wetsuit you wore to clean off the hull.
