For those interested, just been sent pictures of this and found the story on-line.
It would appear it was a Steam cat though, not the EMALS Mag-Cat.

The UK designed & built mag launch system for new carriers is much much better than the US EMALS system - but I guess UK success & world-leading engineering isn't a glamorous message for people...
