Buntingford area "UFO" this morning
Discussion
Sadly I'm a cynical bugger but I believe in UFO's. 1986 in Majorca. Myself and my dad saw a triangle shaped metallic object hovering the sky quite far away. Had three bright spots on it. It hovered there for about an hour. We had binoculars and both looked at it for a long time. Looked back a while later and it was gone. Somehow we just shrugged it off. Only later in life I have realised how significant that sighting was. My dad actually mentioned it to me recently. He said he had thought about it a lot over the years but hadn't mentioned it. We both know we saw something that was 'different'
It looked almost exactly like this. (appreciate this picture is doctored)
Alien or man-made, there is some weird st up there and I am utterly convinced what I saw was this. I'd swear the life of my whole family on it.

Indeed it does Mr Flintstone. I'll believe it the day I see it and I'm not talking about some random shape in the sky meandering about.
What I do like is the thought that maybe just maybe it's possible, stirs the mind somewhat. Almost as good as listening to that chap in the beeb link above, all quite amusing really.
(PS I would like to know what shot past that BA 73 going into MAN many years back, if indeed there was anything)
Edit:
Just reading your comment about chinky lanterns, I've let a few off in the past, how high do you think they can go? About 3 years ago on an arrival into the London TMA, 190 towards the Park something small and white shot past us, close. Balloon or lantern, not too sure which it could be???

Maybe it was this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howabou...
I'm skeptical about this kind of thing, but as another PHer pointed out, there has been numerous accounts by credible characters, pilots for example. Reports of unidentified flying objects with manoeuvreing capabilities that we could only dream of. Cases that to this day, remain unexplained.
I WANT TO BELIEVE!!
I WANT TO BELIEVE!!

I was letting off chinese lanterns at the weekend and live three miles south of Buntingford, maybe it was one of the endurance models?
Bl**dy chinese lanterns, those things should be banned IMO. Anyone stupid enough to launch one deserves to get abducted and probed by aliens frankly, at least UFO's don't go around burning down peoples houses and crops! :-)RobDickinson said:

Someone managed to get conclusive picture proof of a UFO once, it turned out to be one of the HAVE BLUE prototypes. Was designed in the 70's and entered service in 1983 and retired in 2008.

When one of them crashed it what whitnessed by some hikers who started towards the crash site. The USAF security forces turned up to sanitise the area of all debris and stop the hikers seeing what they shouldn't. This very quickly gave rise to stories of a crashed UFO.
The funniest one that I heard was when Lockheed tried to teach some oriental pilots to fly the U-2, one crashed in the arse end of nowhere and made his way to the local petrol station/store while still dressed in his pressure suit complete with helmet and dark visor.
You can imagine the locals response to a short, silver suited, yellow skinned person who spoke little or no english
Re the Guppy, I didn't see it but one apparently flew over here the other week according to Flightradar24.
Someone mentioned the flight on it's way into Manchester, it's a very famous sighting. Please remember that the British Aerospace facility at Warton in Lancashire isn't too far away and some very, very weird things have flown in and out of there. They are however very, very man-made.
Have a look on google for Taranis (sp) and bear in mind this is the stuff that is in the public domain.
I'm fascinated by this subject but firmly believe that anyone who has seen a strange craft has seen an advanced prototype of strictly earthly origin. I'm discounting 'lights in the sky' although am prepared to accept there may be some hitherto unproven atmospheric anomalies occuring.
