There are lots of pontoon boats on Lake Conroe, Texas, (north of Houston). The lake is huge, manmade and currently circa 4ft lower than normal. A friend has a lakeside house and now has beach under his cradled 25ft sportboat in his dock.........not good. Lake is getting lower by a 0.5ins per week, (IIRC), as water is pumped down to the lake outside Houston that supplies the city's water. No rain for ages and 100defF+ daily temps are the root cause of the problem.
Anyway, I'd omagine there are a few folk around the lake who would happily sell their floaty, (or non-floaty), gear right now. The area my friend lives in is called Willis and/or Point Aquarius if you want to search boat sales in the area. Can't see anyone going for the Chim though and import costs could be painful.
I've got a Volvo S60 that might float if all the seams were welded up and it was inverted - and I'd like a Chim. No ? Oh well.

Maybe I'm being thick but a pontoon boat should be on two or more floatable pontoons, google safari boats or Bennington. A rigid raider is a cathedral hulled rigid dory, no?
Actually, having googled, the actual definition could refer to a flat bottomed boat too.

What I am actually looking for is a cheapish boat (@4k) that can take 7-8 people comfortably for cruising on the Thames. Really want as much open space as possible, a Cubby or any berths are not that important, I like the useable space on a pontoon. I think that I may have to increase my budget

I've got a flat bottomed aluminium boat for sale, but it's only suitable for 4 adults (although pretty big).Basically a big, flat platform type boat, with bench seats in it.
Not really what you're looking for though, sorry!

MS, can you send a pic, I know someone who may be interested
Actually, I say one....I needed to buy one for me, because I got fed up using an inflatable for our river mooring. Worked out cheaper to buy a dozen (I know, I know), so I've ended up with three different sizes, and a dozen boats to shift.
To cap it all, I've just secured a pontoon mooring that we're taking over in six weeks, so I'll never need the one I bought for me anyway.
Not sure whether to laugh or cry.
Will get some piccies and drop you a pm, leave it with me.
