Not the boat itself, but I found myself with an unusual problem today. Normally I find with the inadequate fishermen aboard such as I had on Friday then the Party size barbeque is quite sufficient for needs.

However, today, utilising the left over bait and my skills as a hunter gatherer type I find the cooking utensils somewhat lacking in size.

Now bearing in mind that the boat is generally gel coat/stainless steel of the 316 variety Then an chopped down 45 gallon drum is not going to cut the cloth.

Any ideas as to how we can cook the whole fish and not just the middle bit? wink

I assume when you say the whole fish you're looking to cook the head and tail also? If not; gut, head and tail off and they look as if they'd fit just fine. If that doesn't work, cut into steaks, season then cook in individual tinfoil wraps. Lovely.

I shall try to educate you one more time.

Tiger Prawns come from Waitrose.

Bread Rolls come out of the Microwave.

Mussells come pre packed in white wine and garlic.

Spicy Chicken comes frozen from Lidl

But Sea Bass comes from the Thames Estuary.

Unless you have Jonah fishermen on board of course. biggrin

Interesting. So said skipper took said fisherman to an area, most probably known as dog fish alley, declines to do any fishing himself so as to not embarrass fellow fishermen, yet miraculously conjures up a loverly catch the next day... after admitting to shopping at Waitrose....

Smells a bit fishy to me... wink

We'll say that the other boat we encountered must have caught all the sea bass. They caught the last one and cleared off just as we arrived smile

Anyway, Bacardi is now holding his piggy back upside down and sticking a knife in the slot so we may have *three* more parties to attend next year beer

NB You can fish the Great Ouse if you like but I shall be in the pub!

I feel I see a new set of threads emerging Simpo.

"Hello my name's Bacardi and I want to buy a motorboat, would you all like to give some advice and then join me on a launch party?"

With a follow up of "what bait/rig is best for avoiding Dogfish?"

Followed very quickly by "Hi again Bacardi here, anybody her into photography? I need to sell some lenses to finance diesel fuel."

I think you are right.

He could save time by exchanging all his cameras for fuel now...

Then again if he goes for the mighty Yanmar 3-cyl 39hp 'bathtub' edition, he could run for several years on what you burned up in a day redface

ETA Actully having just read their PDF, I'm not so sure - at 2,000rpm it uses 2.6 gallons an hour... FOUR times as much as the Ford Watermota 1100 in the old Freeman. How can that be? Horsepower is almost the same, 35hp vs 39hp. A three hour cruise used to cost me half a Jerry can of petrol (£11) - now it looks like being over £50. Like, WTF?

hehe

You forgot the "what size BBQ do you recommend I get for my gin palace in case I catch something bigger than a stickleback?"

or "Which yachting cap do you recommend so I can blend in with the Wallasea island crowd, will this be suitable?"

You may be forgetting, Barkers old boy, that one has only properly 'made it' when one gets someone else to do one's fishing!

Good point Simpers, I hadn't thought about servants. That'll be another thread...

Although I think I'm decided on having about 3 Air Singapore stewardesses, One to catch the fish, One to cook it whilst the third mops my brow and serves up the G&Ts. I'll have them on rotation for other duties....

Nothing to add on the BBQ question, but genuinely surprised to hear you can catch sea bass in the Thames!
I thought they were fussy about how clean the water is?
