I appreciate your semtiment, but the aid would'nt be aid if it was to secure a deal like this. It would be a bung. A huge, long term bung.

We cant give a Country aid and then expect to get the juicy contracts. Thats dodgier then a dogdy person doing a karaoke version of a Dddgy hit

Of course, whether a Country who can afford brand new fighters and a space programme needs aid is another topic entirely

Errrmmm! Why do you think we give 'aid'? We pay for an awful lot of India's shiney new kit, while ours falls apart.

My sister is with them, Apparently they're doing a few air shows while they are there.
I got a back seat Jaguar ride once with 6 Sqn from Coltishall, early 80's....
awesome!

Back on Topic though, these kind of 'deals' and the £££'s involved, are often
influenced more by politics/reciprocating deals than the Cost v Peformance v capability of the A/C involved... and as the SFO got involved with a previoius Saudi contract... the size and number of brown envelopes.....

Either site I think it's bad news :-( Possibly more so at Samlesbury as the final assembly would have been done in Germany.

Not the best news, but then it's never over until someone puts pen to paper and metal starts being bashed...

"French firm Dassault has emerged as the lowest bidder for a $10bn (£6.3bn) contract to supply India jet fighters.

Dassault Aviation will now enter final negotiations before signing the deal that will supply India's air force with 126 Rafale aircraft."

No doubt Sarco will bait Cameroon with this somehow.....

Which bit of the decision are you struggling with?

Dassault have got this far before and fallen at the next hurdle, but I'd not be relying on a repeat of that to save this Typhoon export contract.

Eric is right - this is only the news that Dassault were cheaper than Eurofighter. Apparently both parties were much more expensive than what the Indians want to pay (and both solutions were pretty much the same price give or take a few €) Now follows the traditional we didn't mean that price routine before the actual deal will be signed (which will hopefully change for my sake)

You're not British then? Why don't you move in with ViperPict, you two would seem happy together.
