I don't think it's rust on aluminium!

Probably some kind of inhibitor?

Cracking pics there dr_gn, the interior ones will really help me scratchbuild the rear crew station for the Airfix kit.

As Dr Gn says, the flightdeck instrument layout may not be as representative of an operational Vulcan on XH558 as on other preserved examples. Look at those modern looking artificial horizons for a start. You can see the more correct ones on the Norwich example.

Hmmm, you'd be better off getting the Haynes book for that: The vast majority of the rear instrument panel equipment has been removed on XH558, since it is redundant in the aircraft's current role.

Once the fuselage is together you can't see much - I'm just filling in the massive whole that's there with a false floor, a couple of bulkheads and the rear crew seats. Nothing too detailed I'm afraid but will post up some pics before it all gets closed up.
